I contacted Massimo after finding the many positive reviews online. My requirements were quite specific, being a multi-city itinerary for a solo traveller, and each day involved different sights I wanted to visit. Massimo was attentive and thoughtful from the start, explaining how some requests were not possible, how to balance out the attractions to get the most out of each day, and so on. Once the final itinerary was agreed upon, he took care of all logistics (car transfers, tickets, guides), with the exception of hotels and restaurants (I had my own preferences for these; however, he could give recommendations if needed).
Once in Italy, he kept track of the trip at all times, and made sure I was dropped off/picked up at the predetermined times and places. He was always available to sort out unexpected issues, and for last-minute changes to the itinerary if he thought it would fit the situation better (within reason). For example, as happened multiple times during my trip, if we had some time to spare (even half an hour), he would offer to take me to an attraction close by to pass the time, instead of waiting idly. There is the option to be more hands-off as well, if you say you prefer to do some exploring on yourself.
I was also fortunate to have Massimo as my driver, and he was a very easy person to talk to, full of interesting stories and cheer. The trip included a lot of driving (Milan -> Venice -> Florence -> Pisa -> Florence -> Rome -> Naples -> Rome), and the time passed by quickly with such an entertaining host.
In summary I would unreservedly recommend Massimo and Best Tour Of Italy for any Italy trip. He has great pride in his work and does everything he can to make sure you have a good time. Of course this is more expensive than a group tour or self-arranged tour, but you essentially get a tour tailored to your requirements, where all logistcs are taken care of, leaving you with what you want to do - seeing the sights of Italy.

We did the Best of Italy tour. Coach had no wi-fi for a few days then very limited wi-fi without much reception. Only one point on the whole coach where you can charge your phone. At times I felt like it was a shopping tour. They keep taking you to places and recommending where to shop. Most of us had the feeing that the tour director or Trafalgar were getting a commission Meals were pretty average and you don’t see what you’re told that you’re going to see. For example we were told that we’re going to see some monastery. We drove past it and the tour director pointed out out to us. It was on top of a mountain. Pretty deceptive

Massimo came highly recommended from a business associate so we scheduled 3 days in Rome and airport transfers. The guides were all so wonderful and personable. Massimo tailored our schedule to our specific interests and took us to some local hidden gems for lunch and gelato. It was a wonderful experience for our 10 year anniversary. He is the absolute best.

We recently returned from the most incredible trip to Italy with Massimo. If I could give him ten stars I would, as five are not enough!
Massimo created a fantastic twelve day itinerary combining historical sites as well as fun excursions for our party of eight (four adults and four teenagers). Massimo arranged all of our private tours, tickets, guides. He took us from Venice (including Murano and Burano) to Florence then to Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and to Rome. In addition to the historical sites, Massimo knew the best gelato shops, restaurants, coffee bars, etc.
Massimo was so easy to work with! He was wonderful with both adults and teens! He has a fantastic personality! Since our return home, we all keep saying how much we miss Massimo! We look forward to working with him again!!!

Massimo and his colleague Giorgio are the best you can find in Italy for a private tour. This was for a group of Malaysians from age 3 to 80 years old.
They planned the most magnificent itinerary which started in Rome, then onwards to San Gimignano, Siena and Florence, followed by Pisa, Genova, Portofino (which includes a day trip boat ride), Rapallo, and then onward to Bologna, Venice, Verona, and then Lake Garda. The trip continued on towards Milan, with a quick pitstop in Bergamo. And ended in Lake Como and Maggiore. Basically covered the must-see’s in the top half of Italy in 3 weeks.
What was the most amazing was they were prepared for anything – the weather, the gelato breaks to entertain the kids, taking the road less travelled to get to the prime vantage point for the best photos of Florence, to catering to our dietary needs (and the more-than-occasional craving for Asian food).
p/s: Special thanks to Massimo and Giorgio for going out of your way to help send my husband back from Garda to Malpensa as his car broke down! Only to end up arriving back at Garda at midnight, and wake up promptly to start the day early again and resume the trip. Thank you so much for your help and your patience with the incredibly big family (and their wide array of demands).
p/s: they were really professional and ready to accomodate any specific request

We just finished one of the best vacations of our lives, and Massimo was a big part of the reason for it. This trip was originally scheduled for June 2020 and had to be postponed. His communication throughout the pandemic was great and we moved it to June 2021 with no problems.
We knew the cities we wanted to visit and some of the tours and places we wanted to see. He helped us organize and plan the details, while being flexible at the same time with dates and times. We did transfers from Rome to Florence, Florence to Tuscany (with a tour of some cities on the way for very little extra cost), Tuscany back to Rome, and finally from Rome to Amalfi and back to Rome to fly out. He arranged tours in all of the cities we visited. He would always give us ideas about other things to do along the way. He was also very flexible with the schedule. If we wanted to leave an hour later so our teens could sleep in, it was never a problem. We changed itineraries a couple times with no issues. Massimo makes some calls and gets things done for us!
I would highly recommend him for your needs. He can customize your trip and do as little as you need, or help with the whole thing, like he did with us. I hardly leave reviews but had to for him! Thank you so much for helping us have this great trip!

If you are parents, grandparents, aunts OR uncles looking for a tour that spans family age groups: Trafalgar Italy is fantastic (Gondolos and Gold): 40 people on a coach and half are kids and the other half are parents, etc. We started in Rome and ended in Venice and had a tour that was amazing. We are travel agents and have sold many, many tours; But not one of them was designed to blend kids and family like this one. Look no more..Call Trafalgar or go online.

My Mother (75) had never traveled far from NZ but I wanted her to see highlights of Italy (home of my husband). Massimo was the sweetest, most patient, humorous and knowledgeable guide and driver. The specialist guides he organised as part of the tour in places like the Colosseum, Vatican City and Venice were all also excellent. My Mum was totally out of her comfort zone but he made everything fun and easy. We both had the best time and I know my Mum was sad to say goodbye to Massimo at the end of the trip. I can not recommend Massimo and the Best Tour of Italy highly enough.
If you come from NZ or Australia, this tour is much better value for money than something organised through a travel agency. It felt like a risk handing over a deposit months before our trip but we had nothing to worry about, Massimo and his Company are 100% legit.

Con los colectivos de doble piso HOPHOP es hermoso recorrer la ciudad de Roma te bajas donde queres conocer y continuar tomando otro fantástico la ruta de ello.

We are looking forward to our upcoming trip for the "Best Of Italy Tour" Trying to pack smart, I saw in the brochure that shorts were not allowed for breakfast. Since we are trying to pack smart, and take just want is needed. Is this correct. Trust me our shorts/clothes are appropriate attire. Just want to clarify before I pack.

Is it true you cannot wear shorts to Breakfast? Seems inconvenient since that is pretty much all we are bringing as we are going in June. Also we would have to change before we get on the bus. Minor in the scheme of things, but unfortunately I am a planner. Thanks all

it depends on where are you staying at, usually breakfast is very informal and you can wear shorts, I talk about nice hotels. Formal dress code is for lunches or dinner

Is September a good time to travel to Italy. I just read about bugs and bug spray...what the heck? Is it buggy? Hoping to hang out in a villa in Tuscany for a while. are bugs really a problem? Also want to do some cycling in the countryside.

We are going on taste of Italy 11 day tour September 13 next month how much clothes and what is most necessary pls? Bug spray? What kind of shoes are necessary to wear for the tour?

Spring clothes (it is warm doring the day and cool at night), comfy sneakers (shoes), bug spray can help if you go to the countryside..do not forget the camera for pictures!!!

Bestourofitaly is the website. They respond quickly and provide a phone number. They took us to Constatinos restaurant in Positano, great family owned place with a drop dead view. I found them to be very flexible.
