I don’t even have words for how much we loved this experience! We were a party of 14. When we arrived, they served us cappuccino and cakes in the garden by the pool. We then went back for our cooking lesson with beautiful fresh ingredients. While our food was cooking, Charlie, the sweetest older man, took us to do a wine tasting of the wines he makes. We went back to finish our lesson with one last item and ate at a beautiful table set up in the garden. We we served the foods that we made, Charlie himself served us his wine, Italian music playing in the background. We felt as if we were part of the small family that ran this business. They treated us like one of their own! The gardens were stunning. Highly recommend this amazing family and their family run business! One of our favorite experiences on our 10 day trip!

Our cooking class at Villa Ida was one of the most fun experiences we had in Sorrento. The family was so kind and welcoming that we felt like part of the family by the time it was over. We made some delicious things and we also had a wine tasting that paired well with our lunch! If you're looking for a fun cooking class in a beautiful setting this is the place for you!!!

Villa Ida cooking class was not up to our expectations, we were disappointed that there was not much cooking done on our side instead we actually prepped cold salads, filled already cooked pasta, and put together the layers of eggplant parmigiana. We were hoping that we would learn how to make either homemade pasta or pizza and sauce. The class was just extremely elementary level.
In addition Charlie gives you a tour of his "wine cellar" where they make you watch a video of his homemade wine making process and history of the family. The whole time it is a pitch for you to buy his wine. While we were eating our dinner he constantly came over to talk more about the wine and let us know we can ship it to the US. At the end of the dinner they have us go back inside and see his ceramics, and music boxes he makes again trying to sell them to us. We sit down and he hands us a form and goes so how many bottle do you want to buy. When we informed him we wouldn't be buying any bottles he was clearly upset and shutdown ruining the vibe of the evening. We did not appreciate how pushy he was on selling his products. We were expecting a cooking class, not a wine tour and salesman pitch for 3 hours.

We had a wonderful time cooking with Roberta and learning about her family. Charlie is adorable and so much fun. He took us in his wine cellar and explained the process. They are a lovely family. With a beautiful home. The food was delicious!

You are a fool if you choose any other experience in Italy.

Four of us took their class and it was possibly the most remarkable and wonderful experience I have ever had on any vacation in my life. We all agree.

This is not a cooking class. It is experiencing being part of a local Italian family for the day. We arrived 15min late, sweating and worried they'd be impatiently waiting to start. Instead, the whole family comes to greet us with a homemade lemon drink and tells us to relax...for an hour... in their garden. After some time we go around picking fruit and vegetables to be used in the class. We spend about 2hrs assembling three amazing courses. They cleaned up and did the actual cooking of what we prepared while the grandfather took us into his wine cave where he insisted no one was allowed to have an empty glass. He explained the wine making process, showed us the garden in more detail, etc. We were served the food we assembled and took two hours to eat, still with unlimited wine. Six hours later we were so stuffed and red-cheeked it was hard to move.

This was two years ago and we still talk about it to the day.

Stop looking. This is your class. Book it.

We had so much fun during our Villa Ida cooking class. We cook fairly often at home and still learned a few tricks - and, more importantly, we had a good time doing it. Charlie, Roberta, and the rest of the family were warm, welcoming, and funny. Their sharing of their family history, their love of cooking, and their own family wine made this such a special and unforgettable experience. Lunch turned out absolutely delicious, as was the wine, - and more than ample; we didn't eat for the rest of the day. Thank you Charlie, Roberta, and family for a wonderful day and great memories!

This class was enjoyable. Roberta was lovely and Charlie (the Dad) was awesome! Whether you already know how to cook or not, this class is worth your time. The grounds are beautful and learning about the legacy of the family, consuming the "Charlie" wine and eating what you cooked that day was a pleasure.

I really can’t say enough good things about this experience! My husband and I did not know what to expect, but this family immediately enveloped us in their warmth. It was a gorgeous property filled with the kindest people who very much want you to enjoy your time there. The cooking was so fun, and food turned out yummy! The wine information and tasting from Carlo/Charlie was an unexpected treat! We truly had the most amazing time with Roberta, her dad and the people of Villa Ida. If we ever make it to Sorrento again, we will most definitely go by there again!
