Nothing remains of the Priory today, and only speculation as to what it looked like, but the Visitor Centre offers a small glimpse into the medieval world of the monks.

The site was created after an archeological dig for Coventry’s first cathedral. Original artefacts and other crucial finds from the Lady Godiva era were discovered here. The Visitor Centre was closed during my visit but some aspects of the dig are available to observe.

Might look modest at the beginning but that is only the beginning. Nice shop and very helpful staff especially Paul 'the deep fact friar' who, all dressed up in monks habit etc, took us on a tour of the original cathedral's undercroft. Utterly amazing. Not only does he have a mass of knowledge about the old city but can even point you to the best places to eat in the area. If you're visiting Coventry start with two places here and the Tourist Information Centre and you can't go wrong. Well done to all concerned.

It just goes to show what can be done with a place when enough people have a willingness to help. The centre is quite quirky but very interesting and the tour that we went on was just brilliant for the heritage open day. Lots of knowledge about lots of history and the volunteers are preserving it well.
Lots of stones from the channel 4 dig showing the history of the area. Amazing place.

Had a lovely time with my youngest son seeing all the items found on the dig in the year he was born. Especially enjoyed the undercrofts and stone store.

What a resource for Coventry! An amazing tour of the undercroft with such a knowledgeable guide, Darcy. His grasp of facts and figures was amazing, and he was able to answer our questions, all in an informative and interesting way. Do not miss seeing this!
Coventry City Council - do the right thing please and support this venture - we have a city to be proud of and this presents the early history of the city in an excellent way - tourists should be guided here

Our last name is Coventry. So a pilgrimage to Coventry has been routine for generations. This year I took my 8 year old daughter and 11 year old son for a stop over for several hours en route to Scotland. Our first stop ended up being the Priory. On learning of the reason for our visit we were welcomed warmly and set off on a very informative and entertaining impromptu tour of the downtown by Deep Fact Friar Paul in full monks attire. He introduced us to business owners and residents along the way and made the visit unforgettable for all of us. We also bought some great books and CD in the gift shop.
It felt like a true homecoming.
Thank you! Thank you! We will never forget the Coventry Priory and Brother Paul.

Having visited Lady Herberts Garden and the Canal Basin, which were very disappointing, we then came across what was the highlight of our Coventry visit, The Priory Visitor Center!.
Paul gave us a brief history of Coventry and the Cathedral and then took us around to what at first glance looked like an underground carpark, but it was in fact the Undercroft that had been excavated by BBC Time Team. It really was amazing, interesting, atmospheric and quite unbelievable to see all the stones which had been buried for hundreds of years all numbered and explained by Paul. We learnt so much about the Priory, Cathedral and Lady Godiva, in an easy to understand and sometimes humorous way.
I can thoroughly recommend this to any one wanting an interesting and informative insight in to Coventry's History, we just wish it was better signposted as we nearly missed this hidden gem, and feel it should attract many more visitors.
Thank you Paul and Carole ,good luck with this amazing visitor attraction. Amanda and Karin, Wiltshire.
