Very interesting guide by Tom building full of history and interesting facts. Lavenham a very quaint place. Used our National Trust cards for free entry

Hundreds of years of history - stunningly preserved

We really enjoyed visiting the Guildhall, and indeed the whole of the small town of Lavenham, Suffolk. It is so pretty, well-preserved and clearly popular!
The Guildhall has centuries of history and a great cafe and garden - the latter being an absolute sun-trap, even in mid-to-late September!

A lovely informative team of people volunteer here. We joined a talk, given by Jo, she had an amazing knowledge of Lavenham and was brilliant. The building is amazing and we really enjoyed and appreciated our visit. Thank you

So far the smallest NT building we have visited. Just loved it. It's full of the history of Lavenham with some super pics. Part of the Guildhall was once a workhouse. There are booklets on the wall of with stories of how young people were treated. Most of it makes shocking reading, pretty heartbreaking actually - not many happy endings. Please don't let this put you off. I think it's important we know about our history. There is a beautiful small courtyard have snacks etc.

A great day out at Lavenham Village!

It is a beautiful Village full of History and beautiful buildings! There are also some reasonable priced Boutique Shops to browse in, or buy a gift!! I can recommend this place for a very pleasant afternoon. …. but better to go on any other day rather than Sunday, as some things do not open on that day!! All in all it is an idyllic epitome of a true English Village!!

A fascinating insight into a special place!

What an enlightening and entertaining visit! The Guildhall and neighbouring buildings are compact by National Trust property standards, but the history was brought to life by our guide Tom. Without his enthusiasm and very friendly and knowledgeable guidance we would not have spent over two hours being educated and entertained. Thoroughly recommended and special thanks to Tom!

A very interesting and informative visit

The Lavenham Guildhall is one of many historic buildings in Lavenham. Its an excellent one to visit and the talk by one of the volunteers is well worth listening to and engaging in discussion. As well as the building there are local history displays. There is also a National Trust tea room and garden.

Wonderful preserved.building

Well worth the visit. Amazing building with an interesting history with stories of great hard ship for the children who passed through its doors. Watched some wool spinning and had refreshments in the lovely garden. An interesting way to spend an hour or two.

Wow, what an amazing place.
The builders of yesteryear did not know how to use a spirit level or plumbob.
The result is a great building.
Lots of excellent displays inside.
