Wonderful
giu 2015 • Amici
This is old this review, as we went a while ago, but it truly is terrific.

It's best, in my opinion, to know little about it, but when you are there, get totally immersed and involved.

The production design and art direction and sets and props is astounding, truly remarkable and hats off to everyone involved. Every little detail is captured and the building its in, is incredible, spread over multiple floors, it's a incredible feat.

The performances were wonderful, and I'll be totally honest, I was lost at times, but it doesn't detract from the incredible experience you will have.

It's pricey, but worth it.

If you can get past the slightly ridiculous and irritating fellow patrons who go a step further when getting immersed, who will happily barge you to make sure they are closest in the action by being a step behind the actors, you'll have a ball!

This is a truly great experience and is just as amazing as Sleep No More which is in New York.

A must do.

Had to go again!
dic 2014 • Coppie
I went to this with a group of friends from university and it was the best thing I had ever watched!! I love immersive theatre but this was on a different level. It was fascinating. And you could watch a different part each time you go. I had to go again with my boyfriend a few weeks later.

I would definitely recommend following their instructions and staying alone in the show. They tell you to separate from the other members of your party and its brilliant. After having gone once I knew I would go alone. If you follow actors alone then sometimes they take you off for an activity one to one. I got locked in a room for a terrifying photo shoot and also helped a woman put car-crash victim makeup on. I also walked hand in hand presenting red roses with a twitchy clown man.

God I loved this show. If I could watch it over and over I would. Can't believe it closed. Can't wait for the next one.

Interactive Theatre

My first and probably not last experience of interactive theatre. The attention to detail was excellent. A fun evening out.

Best thing I have done in London. Never quite experience any type of theatre quite like this. Go with an open mind, loose your friends and be immersed!

Chomping at the bit for their next endeavor

By far the most engaging theatre form, interactive theatre is an outstanding piece of art work. As long as you're not expecting an obvious chronological storyline, I don't think you can be disappointed by this.

As we have been to a few interactive theatre productions, we were ready for the instruction not to speak and not to stay with your friends. Although really (ridiculously) scary, it is a far better experience when you do as you're told. As everyone was wearing masks, it was easy to be invisible and part of the action without feeling as though you were putting yourself out there too much. The darkness is hard to get over though, as so many rooms you enter feel as though they would make excellent murder holes (not to scare you, but I really couldn't shake the feeling!).

There is a certain beauty too, however, as all of a sudden actors burst from unseen doorways and engage with one another - and you! - to tell a snippet of the storyline, before disappearing again. Occasionally they created these stunning modern dance routines to intense music and lighting, which are not everyone's cup of tea, but as you're not seated, you can go and investigate something else!

The bar where everyone eventually congregates is fab, really rocking and feels like the prohibition might close it down at any moment. Live music and a rocking good time.

Can't wait for their next installment. Absolutely brilliant and not for only the 30 somethings; I know some teens who went and loved every second. We have friends who went 6 times to discover new plots and twists... they were kidnapped and not disappointed!

Disorientating, arousing, exhilarating, intriguing, labyrinthine, vast, exciting, in-your-face and just great. If you don't like being out of your comfort zone, this may not be for you, but if you do, it's hits the spot like nothing else.

All alone and sober at Punchdrunk’s The Drowned Man
mag 2014 • Amici
You see, as an audience member to most sorts of theatrical shows, you are usually able to purchase seats somewhere fluffy in your comfort zone. A ticket to The Drowned Man however, entitles you to no seat whatsoever; in fact, so much lack-of-seat that your legs get tired from running around chasing dancing actors.

They call this an immersive theatre experience.

So Temple Studios is a multi-storey production studio, right? Right. And basically the entire place is turned into one big gigantor set for the actors to run around willy-nilly, just acting wherever they feel like it.

Which means if you want to get your money’s worth and see (some of) the show then you have to run around being an audience wherever you feel like it too. And you have to keep up; the actors are fast little things.

The audience is hugely important visually, everyone hovers around right in midst of the performances; so close that you could go and stroke an actor if you wanted to be a weirdo. But to be able to distinguish the audience members from the acting members, they make you dress like a duck.

This is what theater is about!

I went twice; each experience was totally different (my five companions had each unique experiences) -- like all very good art it reinvents itself. The dance was fresh and sensuous. The actors cast a spell on us. The sets allowed us to get lost in our space. A wonderful change from canned West End theater!

An amazing theatre performance, which is a walk around, follow cast members into dark scary rooms type thing, that lasts for a few hours. A really amazing once in a lifetime experience.
