It is so good that when the city of London was being built that the architects considered putting squares within the city. This was so that there would be a natural area for people to enjoy a nit of nature.
Finsbury Square is a classic example of this.
One thing that has been introduced is that it now has a car park beneath the square. Interesting use of space!
When I visited it was March and a bit cool but I imagine during the summer it is well used,

We had a work Christmas party there last Friday. What a great idea. Set in marquis in Finsbury square. Inside it was like walking into a Victorian street. All staff were very friendly. The decorations were lovely . Very large trees and in the main marquis the ceiling was just covered in little lights. The food was excellent, proper food not prepackaged. The entertainment was excellent as well. A great venue and great night.

Not sure why this is listed on TripAdvisor. I came her while passing through on a Sunday. Much like the city, this place is deserted during the weekend. There's a mix of restaurants, offices, hotels around a central garden square. The garden sq looks quite nice, but was locked up when I was there.

Finsbury Square is a featureless patch of grass amidst some horrible office buildings in the area between Moorgate, Liverpool Street, Old Street, and Shoreditch. There is pretty much nothing to commend about this ugly part of London.
The Square is small but there are two separate grass areas. They were cordoned off but are presumably areas for picnicking during warmer times. There are also some benches to sit on presumably to encourage the local office workers to eat out. A coffee shop is available.
The place is just ugly. The grass looks like a lawn garden without the shrubbery or wildlife. It is somehow lifeless and un-interesting. The grass is well maintained. Apparently it is for crown green bowling.
There is a little history here but not much. In truth Finsbury Square is not really a location with interesting historic connotations. The drinking fountain monument to the inventor of the Christmas Cracker. It is eye catching given the mundanity around it but in truth even the water fountain is ugly.
The biggest problem with the square though is its surrounds. On all sides it is hemmed in by hideous buildings. They are largely identikit office buildings with rows of miserable cubicles glaring through their large and ordered glass windows. The buildings are too similar to each other and too inane to have any aesthetic value.
Finsbury Square is a terrible part of London if only because it may well be one of its ugliest locations. The Square itself is soulless and the surrounding buildings that can be seen from it are dreadfully disappointing.
Even the way the benches are arranged is boring. They are clustered together facing in the same direction looking for all the world like an audience rather than a participatory environment.

Great hotel in the heart of the city. Clean. Lovely roomy. Excellent staff. This was a very pleasant stay for my wife and I. Would go back.

Finsbury Square est un lieu sans grand intérêt à part le fait que c’est assez calme, un peu à l’écart du bruit et de la foule.

There really is not much to say about this. In the summer, I can imagine it as a bustling area thronged with people having al fresco lunches.

I stayed in a hotel on this square, and a couple of points include cheap and apparently fairly plentiful parking on the square, a nice little park area to hang out with a coffee. Plenty of choices all around for that coffee and a snack with Itsu, Pret, Eat and others all right on the square.
There was a bowling green too, and a few bars and pubs, so not a bad little city back water

A cuppa tea is£1.90 food is terrible and so expensive this place is a rat race stay away unless someone else is paying.
