Nature is beautiful, but the road is dusty and disastrous. The wooden mountain houses fit nicely into the landscape, but there are too many elements that do not belong to Bosnian culture and tradition. We thought we would refresh ourselves in the lake, but there was a lot of dust around and women covered from head to toe in black, you couldn't even see their faces! The atmosphere was not pleasant.
A complete disappointment. Crazy wasted time on the dusty road and wasted 18 stamps for the entrance fee.

Bijzonder om de route vanaf Vitez naar de Kroatische kust te rijden. Een enorme mooie natuur met hier en daar een dorpje. En dan het schitterende meer. Een echte aanrader.

The lake and the surrounding nature are breathtaking. Stunningly beautiful. You can find ideal spots to enjoy the scenery or have a barbecue with your friends. If you want to spend a night or two with your friends, the nearby wooden houses are a great option. However, there was trash at the entrance, on the grass, and around the lake. And not a single garbage can! I gave it two stars because this was so disappointing.

This is a small lake surrounded by a beautiful nature. To get there you need to take a very bad road, which again is much better than it was many years ago when I visited Prokosko lake last time. Still, it is not good and I recommend that you should take an agency to take you there, do not use your car. More and more tourist are coming here, especially from Arab countries, to enjoy the sights. This also takes away peacefulness this place used to have. Now there are a lot of cars around it and many people walking around, or driving quads up the hills. This inflow of tourists also contributed to opening of cafes and places to eat (let's be fair, these are not restaurants, more like families accepting guests for meals and charging for it). I also saw a sign Supermarket, which never existed before, did not visit it but as it is situated in one of the typical houses, it seems to be more of a small shop to buy some essential food and drinks than a supermarket. Novelty is also running water in houses, more modern toilet facilities and electricity - quite a number of houses have now solar panels and sewage system so the sewage waters are not running into the lake anymore. Weather changes here fast and dramatically so be prepared with good walking shoes, some warmer cloths, rainproof jacket. My group had a lovely lunch in one of the private houses, cannot unfortunately remember the family name, but it was away from the lake itself. Pies were great and we could have also a beer or plum brandy, however roasted lamb was undercooked as the host took it away from spit too soon. He is taking his own lambs for meal and you can even watch the process - if you have a gut for it. You can also sleep over the night, prices are not high, however typical accommodation is of a whole group of you in a single room - just like they used to live. This is still a beautiful village and area, but rapidly loosing its charm of remote and isolated settlement.

The lake is amazing, BUT taking my kids to it was really horrible experience for them! Driving a car for 15 km (through the difficult mountain unpaved road), which took more than 40 minutes

Very very nice and amazing place to visit really wow wow wow, amazing, I really liked this place, it is a long way but really worth it, we went by minibus but the route of the last hour to reach is hard there it was very scary for me I don't like this type of roads, I hope they fix it to make it easy for cars to go, but when I reached there and see the beauty of that place, I relaxed, you can sit near the lake and have some tea and fresh lunch, there is a person there his name is (Mersad) he is the best in cooking, he cooked us a chicken and some beef with potatoes all grilled, so yummy and healthy, you will enjoy, and this place looked like the countryside in cowboys movies wow very nice, but please pregnant ladies must not go there the road is hard.

Not too far from Sarajevo city, lies a lake high up in the mountains. I visited this place in fall weather. What's special about this place is that there is no electricity. Mostly farmers reside here and so they use old school methods of energy - a clay oven for cooking, lanterns/candle for light and wood for fire. Due to the high demands of energy in winter, the people living by the lake descend to lower parts of the mountain to beat the cold.
This is why when I visited this place, it was empty with only one man waiting for some tourists to show up so he can make some money cooking meals for them - quiet an interesting man, very knowledgable for villager. Oh and he cooked us the best oven roasted chicken and potatoes I've ever had!
The place itself was so picturesque. A crystal blue lake, lush green grass and haunting cloudy skies. The weather was cold, rainy and super windy, which is why I absolutely loved it. This picture perfect natural scenery was made more beautiful with the manmade wooden cottages. For a tourist place, they were super clean! There was so network coverage. No internet mean that I had to really put away my phone and actually enjoy the natural beauty and unwind instead of snapping and gramming!
A friend of mine visited this place in summer, and at this time of the year the lake was buzzing with tourists, cattle and farmers. When I compared the pictures, I think I preferred visiting this place in winter.
Breathe in the fresh, unpolluted air; walk around the lake taking in the beauty and just disconnect from the world for the ultimate experience! It was an experience of a lifetime!
