This is a Paadal Petra Sthalam. Very historic temple. This is the Hall of Paintings or Chitra Sabai of the 5 Sabais or Pancha Sabais of Nataraja. The temple itself is shaped like a conch. The Chitra Sabai is located away from the main temple and should be missed.

We visited Lord Kutralanathar at the Kutralanathar temple near to Main falls. The main deity of Lord shiva is called Kuttralanathar and the Goddess Parvathy is called Kuzhalvoi Mozhiammai. It is said the main deity of Linga was formed by Sage Agasthya to see the Parvathy-Shiva marriage from South.

The temple connects by road from Tirunelveli. A narrow road connects Tirunelveli to Tenkasi, Tamils in South india, believe that the lord cures all ailments with a shower in the Aruvi or Waterfall. There is a mad rush of people arriving, bathing, worshipping, eating and touring these 4 falls in this zone. There are police man watching everyone but cannot prevent a trip, slip and fall into the aruvi. Needs a few engineers to think purity and retain quality of water. The forest above should be protected with civilian friendly, pollution free atmosphere. The road drives are risky and the place is overcrowded on saturday and sundays.

Surrounded by mountains and full of green trees, this temple for Lord Shiva is really awesome. Sprinkles from the nearby waterfalls makes one feels blissful. Architecture very ancient and excellent.

Very ancient Shiva temple with sprinkling water from main falls of coutralam.
In the outer corridor at one point the sound of roaring falls is vanished totally, architectural marvel.
