Very laid back clothing optional beach. Be respectful and you'll be fine. The newly opened beach further down from the original Hanlan's beach has become the new clothing optional spot. The older spot has more shade and better swimming than the newer beach, while the newer spot is more of a social gathering.

This place was the cherry on top of a fantastic time in Canada.

I was apprehensive about visiting a clothing optional beach, but I eventually mustered up the courage to join in and I have never felt so liberated!

Most individuals on the beach were clothed, which was a bit of a let down, but the experience was great all the same. Everyone gets on with what there doing, so there really isn’t any fear.

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen on all areas to ensure your skin is safe from burning. Particularly on sensitive areas.

The lake was clean and it was a great swim.

It’s worth the visit if you are on the island and want to experience something new.

Hanlins point is a fun place. You can enjoy the nice clean water, walk or sit on the beach. Tanning in as little as possible is what’s in it for us.
My girl friend & I go there every weekend we can.
Gay men don’t bother us. As a matter of fact they’re friendly & are well behaved. We always give & get smiles!!!
Few girls show up, be nice if there were more. Maybe you reading this, will join us!
I wear a thong, so does my lover, having nice bodies, we enjoy the clothing optional. we are really tanned this year. Carmi goes topless, looks so fabulous.
Topless was legalized in Ontario back in 1987 btw. So you could walk down the street if you wanted bare!!!!
Thankyou sun, for the beautiful rays that shine down on us!

I used to come here to feel one with nature, to suntan, to relax, and to feel open with the nudity/partial nudity community. A few clothed people - no problem. tiny non-family swimwear - no problem. This year, half the people were wearing family beach attire - not very nature-like. Mostly, it was difficult to feel the happiness I used to feel in the place when there are large motor boats & yachts with very loud music disturbing sunbathers and blocking the view of the lake.

Biked over to the beach and unfortunetly there wasn't any swimming due to e coli levels. Please understand that this is a clothes optional beach as well.

As a person that’s been going since the 80’s I’ve seen a lot of changes, most of them not so good. Since the days of finding little pockets of sand surrounded by tall grasses, when we had one person on lookout we’d sunbath in the nude. It was at the time a “gay men’s” destination of interest as it was sort an place to hang out. On occasion we’d get ticketed but for the most part the police were ok with it.

Since then the one good thing that was done, is sand was hauled in to create a beach. The bylaw was also changed to designate it as as clothing optional beach. Downhill since then.

The beach is inundated with gawkers (90%) who just take up a lot of space and turning an enjoyable day into one that at times feels dirty. There are also a lot of people who bring dogs which is not only selfish and dangerous but also against city bylaws. Dogs are not allowed on beaches in Toronto (unless designated) or on any of the beaches I’ve visited in many countries. There’s just not enough officers to patrol the number of ignorant people with dogs. I mean who wants a dog running over your blanket, nipping at your food or taking a sh##t at your feet?

These last couple of years getting there has been a chore. One summer it was closed as the island was seriously flooded and then COVID hit. This summer when you could go, the city gave no consideration to people riding bicycles with major construction making the ride dangerous. Huge clouds of dust, gravel kicked up by massive machinery requires some serious precautions. Wearing a good mask and eye protection is a must.

The island was always an oasis for me especially since I could be nude and enjoy the sun gracing my body and the water enveloping my naked self. It’s really a terrific experience, one that I would recommend that everyone should try.

Walked over to check it out on a warm September afternoon. It looked friendly and a great mix of all kinds of people. Had no bathing suit so off came the clothes. No one cared. Enjoyed walking up and down the beach and enjoying all manner of people including some grandparents bringing the grandkids, who kept their clothes on. Watched a very attractive woman hook up with this young stud. All manner of good times. Water was warm as was the sand. If I did not have to go to a conference would hav3 gone back the next day.

I often prefer Gibralter Point beach, but sometimes I get outvoted or arrive too late, and follow the sun to Hanlan's. If you have a problem with nudity you might not like it there, but the further away you walk from the plastic dividing fence, the less nudity you'll see. Not that everyone in the clothing optional area exercises that option. For some reason, the water at one of the island's beaches might be palpably warmer or wavier than another, on the same day. All Toronto beaches are kid-friendly but there's definitely more boozing and burning at Hanlan's than at other city beaches. Lifeguards are chill but cops sometimes show up to ticket the boozers. If you're with kids and / or uptight about people partying, Ward's is probably the island beach for you. Or just walk further down Hanlan's, it's really long and thins out as you walk toward the city. The ferry is less frequent here, and I've missed the last one more than once. Water taxis were 10$ last summer, and you can take your bike. The only drawbacks for me are the jet ski losers who have to go back and forth as loud as possible 50 times in case the girls on the beach didn't notice them the first 49 times... and the flotilla of motor yachts that moor en masse right near the nude area and blast their crappy generic club beats far enough to be heard in Rochester across the lake. They probably think they're adding to everyone's beach vibe, but I don't go to the beach to feel like I'm lining up outside some lame nightclub.
