It’s been our tradition since the '60s that when we’re vacationing in Peterborough we visit the Whetung Ojibwa Centre at Curve Lake First Nation. Lots of interesting things to see - a huge selection of Native crafts and art and collectible items, also a museum of history. I am a longtime fan of artist Rick Beaver from nearby Rice Lake, and they always have a selection of his art. I don’t presently have wall space for another print, but there is always room for another mug and fridge magnet!

We always bring visitors to the Peterborough area to the Whetung Gallery. And we stop by on our own at least once or twice a year. The Gallery has a wide variety of different shoes of Indigenous art and crafts from all across the Americas. It is a wonderful place to see inspiring art - everything from paintings to pottery to beadwork to housewares to food treats to craft-making materials. Highly recommend a visit.

Don’t miss visiting this gallery if you are in the area.They have everything from the usual souvenir items to beautiful native art .A great place to find a unique gift.

Quite an interesting place, not really what I was expecting though. Many of the art works and artists aren't from the Ontario area but from the East Coast area of Canada instead. Either way they were interesting to see... just felt kind of irrelevant to the area I was visiting. The location is quite out of the way but the drive there was very scenic.

I was blown away by the colour and variety of goods at Whetung Gallery, clothing, jewelry, carvings, household items, painting, music, videos, books, by Indigenous peoples from across Canada. It was like total immersion into First Nations culture the minute I walked through the door. I could have stayed for hours.

I love this place....great art and treats! Some of the items are pricy but they are well worth it. Worth the drive on a nice day!

They have a great variety of Native art, jewelry, moccasins and other gifts....the fire in the large stone fireplace is cozy and the cat is very friendly. Staff are pleasant and very helpful. Certainly recommend a visit if you are in the area!

So many interesting things to look at and buy. Staff are so f iendly and helpful. Great selection of art and moccasins. Perfect place to find gifts to take overseas

If you like aboriginal art than this is where to go. There is a wide range of art from many different artists. You may even get to meet and speak to an artist because they sometimes work on a piece right in the centre. The centre is far more than art. Moccasins, souveniers, art and so much more. There is even a exhibit where you can learn a little history. Nice place, nice people. It's worth the visit.
