Wow! This place is absolutely amazing! I have never seen a place with so many hands-on exhibits. The "Discovery" Centre is the perfect name. Our 4 and 8 year old were entertained for hours (and so were we!).
Families, add this one to your Halifax list for sure.

Les expositions ne sont pas très intéressantes pour les jeunes de plus de 12 ans. Malheureusement, plusieurs des activités étaient brisées ou ne fonctionnaient pas bien.
Peut-être nos attentes étaient-elles hautes puisque nous visitons régulièrement les centres de sciences ou d’innovation en famille dans d’autres régions.

It's ok. A few of the cool exhibits were not working. I took a 9 year old and she was a bit old for it and the oldest kid there. We still made the best of it but took in the entire thing in 40 minutes and that was looking at everything. There's really not a lot to it.

Great place for kids! This area has a pretend play shop and also a real shop. I recommend these two.

It was a really neat place for the kids to play and learn for the morning. Lots of interactive activities to do. We also checked out the live show about constellations in the dome. Very cool show. Unfortunately the lower level was under construction so we were limited.

Great place to spend a few hours with kids aged 9 and 7. Parking is an issue. Factor having to pay for parking as well as admission.

This place is really great for younger kiddos! The place is decent sized and full of neat little things for them to try.
I am now a mom to two teens, so it wasn’t exactly their cup of tea (my son is very science focused, so there are science centres we have come across that fit his interest and age bracket a bit better).
If you have little kids, this is a great spot to visit. If your kids are a bit older, or you as an adult are looking to go, I would say the target audience for this particular science centre is geared towards the younger crowd, but of course you could still get a bit out of it, after all it’s science!

OK spot for kids. It is overpriced and unfortunately you have to pay extra for the dome experience. So we paid 62 bucks (5 people) for the centre entrance fee plus it would have been another 25 ( 5 per person)for the dome. Its insane to think that an average family can afford this. We did not do the dome so can't speak on that experience. Not overly clean and some of the interactive displays do not work properly. Not a lot of activities for the price. No parking at the facility makes things aggravating and adds at least 10 bucks to the day. I love museums but this is a disappointment. Save your money and go take your kids to Ross Farm in New Ross.

Our two year old loved this, especially the top floor that was very suited for her. It had a teddy hospital, farm, farm store as well as lots of interactive activities for her age group. We went first thing, and suggest that to families

What a wonderful science museum! Our daughters absolutely loved it. They were enthralled by the oceanography exhibits, as they have a keen interest in nature and the seas - it really brings that part of the world to life. The play submarine in the basement has some really intricate designs and stuff too. My girls also enjoyed the flight simulator and learning all about the human body systems. You will find something to appeal to everyone's taste for science and there's never a boring moment.

How long does it take to do all the exhibits?

If adults only: Top level (Kid careers inspiration) takes about 15-20min to walk around and experience some of the kid fun stuff. Then walk down the musical stairs to 3rd level between 30 sec to 5 mins (depend on how many songs you wanna play out - just like the Big floor piano in the movie - Big!
2nd (main level) & 3rd level will each takes about 30-60 mins depend how detail you go through the floor. Also they have the dome theatre so add on another 45mins.
1st floor (basement) which is their special exhibition with some science stuff. It was Games History when I was there... that is totally depend on how many time you wanna repeat some of the fun stuff... I spent like 2 hrs just for the exhibition part. Then found the 3D printer so amazing and chit chat with the workers for about an hour asking about it!
So that’s alone took me about 5-6 hrs. Recommend to prepare a whole day thing, so you won’t rush through any parts. (I was visiting Halifax, but if you live there, suggest to get membership card and can have fun all the times!)

Hi there, the cost is $12+hst for adults, $10+hst for kids (ages 3-17), and kids 2 years of age and under are free. The Centre attracts people from all age groups, with different galleries for each age.

Hello All,
I have 3 children ages 7, 10, and 11 and am considering going to the Discovery Centre. Many reviews claim that it's good for younger kids. I'm not sure if my 10 and 11 year olds would enjoy this? Please advise? Also, how many hours should I allot for this place?

Hi Toronto01234. Of course each family is different but I can say that I went there with 2 adults and 3 children aged 12, 13 and 17. They all enjoyed it. Spent a lot of time in the music section and the Innovatiob Lab. We spent 2 hours and a half there. Depends on the interests of your children of course.

Due to the location of the business youll have to use alternative parking. The business is located on a corner of a sidewalk with no rear parking. So you have a choice to find parking near the waterfront/ fairy terminal area or the under parking at Scoita Square mall parking. Both are only a 5 min walk to the business.

My son has autism not sure if he would like it or not is there attractions for special needs children? And is the rate adjusted at all?
