What an amazing place to discover. My teenagers literally took off to go explore this fabulous geo park. The tide was low so it made all the difference. Being able to cross the stream and get to the rock formations over billions of years old! Needless to say we loved it. No fee to explore! We stayed a long while taking it all in.

This UNESCO Global Geopark is bounded on the south by the rugged coastline of the Bay of Fundy and east along the Fundy coast to the Village of St. Martins where I met up with it. This UNESCO site incorporates 60+ geological and fossil locales of which 12 or so are accessible.
At St. Martins, the Sea Caves are part of this geopark, carved out of sandstone, but I was not able to explore it due to the high tide. The rocks around there are 250 million years old.

We are thrilled to be part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and as North America’s first geopark, Stonehammer is about geology, but it is also about the people, society and culture. You can hike, kayak, rock climb, zip, eat and tour… you’ll have fun every step of the way!

This Geopark takes up a big chuck of southern NB with lots of different geographical experiences. Plan to do something else and admire the geography while doing it.

Pangea and stones from Morocco in New Brunswick, wow! This is a way to understand the geology and stone formations in a clear fashion. Better said, a complex concept in explained in a simple fashion.

Stone hammer Geopark is a nice place to walk around and view the rock formations cause by erosion from the Saint John River. There are very nice lookouts to view Reversing Falls.

Further evidence of the presence of Pangea, some of the exposed rock sources from far South America while others source from Africa. You must know what you're looking at or have a guide to show you the difference. Good for rock hounds

We stumbled upon this park by mistake. Very interesting history, lovely setting, they even have a restaurant there, which I was surprised to learn is run by a non-profit society. If I lived in Saint John, I would go often.
