We got a walking tour and got to imagine what it would have been like back when it was first built. There is for sure more of this structure gone than there is left of it, but our guide was a very good story teller and brought it to life.

It was a cold day to tour the fort but so glad we did. Turns out this is one of the places where they release captive polar bears in the summertime so seeing bears outside the fort is not at all unusual. We had a great tour guide whose sense of humor was such a delight. Loved learning the history of the area in such an interesting and humorous way.

We had a short walk out to the walls with a guide. It's a nice place on the water. There were a lot of beluga whales to watch for there.

One of the must-sees if you go to Churchill. The fort is steeped in history, but most Canadians are unaware of how it came about, and the role it played. There is a fantastic view of Hudson Bay from the parapet. and the walk from the welcoming centre to the fort is covered in local plants. Chances are good you will see belugas on the boat ride across the river from town to the point.

This fort took 38 years to build, stood for 11 years, the French came and they surrendered it without a shot and it was immediately abandoned. It has no significance. The tour is bad because they whitewash history...which is just a horrible thing to do in light of the suffering caused by the British in Canada.

It was an informative tour. The colors were changing on the tundra and there were few flowers. I would go earlier than Mid Aug if you're interested in foliage

We were here in prime fly season but it's still worth it to hear the rangers explain the history. This is very much a part of Canada's history right here!

Not a lot to see or experience...
The only way to get to the fort is with a guided tour. It is currently under repair and so we had to rely heavily on the guides' descriptions rather than actually seeing the fort 'as it had been' during the 1700s.
We visited as part of the belugas and fort excursion through Sea North Tours. The beluga whale watching was more thrilling than the Prince of Wales Fort. Still, it was interesting to see this important Canadian historical site and I am glad I visited. However, the tour could have been shorter given that the fort is mostly inaccessible while under repair.
During restoration works, they should give a modified tour or not charge full price, since you do not get a full tour.
However, there are beautiful views of the Port of Churchill from the fort...

We visited this fort as part of a tour. There are bathrooms located at the entrance. It requires a short walk to the foot of the fort walls and a climb up a set of stairs to the top of it. Our guide gave us lots of information and told some interesting stories regarding the fort's history. The fort is being renovated at the moment so unfortunately it wasn't as effective as it could have been. The scenery is beautiful. You get great views of the bay as well as beautiful plants and flowers.

A British trading post that was in a resolute part of the world at the time. Trading existed with the locals and according to the interpreter it was amicable. There is restoration at the moment and will be impressive when it is complete. One needs to take a boat from Churchill to access this Fort

Hello, I've read that some people have done a tour to the fort in the evening, seeing the sunset from there. Which company does that tour? Thank you

I'm looking to eat at RAW in Prince of Wales Fort near Churchill, Canada. Has anyone eaten there, what is the nearest airport, and hotel. What is the food like, what month did you go. Thanks for the information.

Hello, I visited in July. Two good places to eat in Churchill are the Tundra Inn Restaurant and Pub, across from the Tundra Inn. Another good place is Gypsy's Bakery. Everything is close together in Churchill, not too far to walk. There is also a grocery store which sells everything possible. Enjoy!

What is the cost for the boat ride? and hat else is there to see? I am looking to go somewhere just for the day? Would this be a good place to spend a day?

We took two different tours, one the fort and estuary and the other the sloth trail. This is the one you go over in zodiac and walk the area and come out the outside of the Fort. I went first week of July, we saw a lot of birds tundra, lots of flowers. We saw caribou tracks but no caribou, but it's nature, hit and miss. We also took the tundra buggy tour and it is a day long and it was good. Also the trails half day tour I'd excellent, it gives you the lay of the land, saw a lot on this. This was our first tour when we arrived in Churchill and I highly recommend this tour. It was by frontiers north. You tour the town and then go out of town and tour the area. All the tours are about the same price, but all were well worth it. Check sea north, tundra buggy and frontiers websites. Hope this helps
