Puebla Talavera with a wide range of household and art pieces, quiet interior space. With Covid protocols there is no visit of artisan ateliers and no tour of the facility. Wide selection to buy & reasonable prices for hand made, hand painted, classic Talavera. Main door is locked during business hours, so need to ring the buzzer on the left side of the entrance portal to request to enter the store.

We visited The shop and were able to take a tour of the workshop. They showed every step of the process and some beautiful artistic pieces. The tour lasted 15-20 minutes. In lieu of a tour fee they encouraged us to consider purchasing some items. Everything was beautiful and we are very happy with our purchases.

I went with my guide from the Spanish Institute of Puebla. There were about 8 of us on the tour, which was in Spanish. It was a very complete tour; we were able to go into the rooms where the artisans were, and observe them working. The kilns were not fired up at the time we were there, but we were able to see them, and to see all the work that goes into every single piece of Talavera. I would highly recommend this tour, and the shop, as well. Below I said I would recommend it for kids, but the should go in knowing it's a hands-off place, no touching, just looking, and so on. Not a great place for really small kids, but great for older ones.
I chose YES, it's a "must-see", but (obviously) that would only apply for those who are interested in Talavera....

Good selection of Talavera ceramics and tiles. Fairly helpful staff and lucky for us there were a few Christmas decorations left to purchase at reduced rate.

We weren't lucky enough to encounter the warm reception other reviewers noted. Apparently, the two people present were doing an inventory (?) and not terribly interested in providing us with information unless we went to them to ask a direct question. No workshop tour offered. Perhaps we just came on a bad day...We did mot feel pressured to buy anything and were left to sort through stacks of plates and bowls, etc.
We did buy a traditional plate with the workshop DO4 mark and notation. The wares are very pretty and very heavy! Pick one with no imperfections. No discount for paying in cash rather than credit card. On the same street vendors sell traditional mole ollas and big low fire pots for cooking.

I loved, loved this place! I spent close to an hour going around the workshop, the garden with talavera tile murals and the store. I wish I could have stayed longer.
The lady in the store is super nice, she didn't pressure us into buying, I could see how proud she was of the work they do. I bought some beautiful Xmas ornaments that I cant wait to display this year.

At the Talavera de la Luz we enjoyed a tour of the works and processes of producing talavera. A very knowledgeable staff member lead us thru the process from raw clay, cleaning, wedging, throwing, firings, glazing, handpainting to the final firing in the kiln that brings those colors to their full intensity and brillance. Very intricate work all done by hand. The tour ends in a very tempting showroom, but there was no pressure to buy. The factory complex itself is beautiful with courtyards and tile murals on walls.

Hermoso establecimiento de auténtica cerámica de talavera. Es muy instructivo el recorrido del taller donde se fabrican las piezas a través de un elaborado y largo proceso artesanal. Posee un patio-museo muy acogedor. La tienda ofrece una enorme variedad de piezas de gran belleza a precios razonables, si se considera el laborioso trabajo. La atención personalizada de la señora Gina es inigualable!
