This was our absolute favorite thing to do in Los Cabos. We love hiking to begin with, but the views on this one are so breathtaking that it even replaces Lk. Louise & Banff as my world favorites. There are many good reviews and pictures already here but I have some things to add.
We arrived a little before 8 a.m. but had to wait about 15 minutes until Enrique (more about him later) welcomed the crowd inside the gates. So don't overly stress out about being punctual like I was (which annoyed my companions). On the other hand don't be too late either because a man showed up at 8:30 and Enrique turned him away. because he was late.
Then Enrique talks at length about the history of the area, magnetic fields and their influences on things, the importance of being present in the moment as there is nothing real except now. Then he yells, "Vamanos, perros!" which is the cue to begin the hike. ( I don't know why, but I found this last bit very charming.) Some reviewers have said he does the hike to get donations for the dogs, but I don't think so. This is a dog training & boarding facility, not a shelter. I think Enrique leads the hikes because he is going to give the dogs the exercise anyway, he likes tips (who doesn't?), and he strikes me as an extroverted, gregarious, entertaining person, who enjoys performing. So his allowing the public to hike with him & dogs is a win-win. It's a side hustle, and I say good for him for being enterprising.
The hike will be much more enjoyable for you if you are reasonably fit, not afraid of heights, and very sure-footed on rocks. It is dangerous at the top, where one wrong move will send you off a cliff, but that is where the payoff is. The dogs are very used to people. They are also fast and very well in tune with Enrique's calls to them. If I lived here, I would do this hike every single day.

Went on 11/19/23 @ 8:15am. Current times are Sunday - Friday (not Saturday) @ 8:15 only! Get there at 8 as he starts his talk then and then begins the hike promptly at 8:15. There was a parking lot up the road from his gate a bit that was $2 per hour and about a block away. Difficult hike fore sure but worth it. Steep scrambling incline so wear closed toed shoes with no shade so bring water and wear sunscreen/hat/sunglasses. You can see both sides of the peninsula from the top which is amazing. Great photo op. He does a talk at the beginning and then again like mid-way up. It’s just about being mindful/in the moment and how you don’t need substances to do so. To appreciate the present because that’s the only thing that exists in the moment. There were around 10-15 dogs when we went. So fun!

We took this hike on a Sunday morning with Enrique and the dogs. It was such a great hike, and Enrique gave such good information and had a lot of energy. The trail does get a little bit technical and rock scrambly, but if you are in average shape, it will be no problem for you.

This is an amazing experience! Worth the hike for the view. There were about 45 people when we did the hike this week. All ages and fitness levels. As others have stated, you will use your hands, especially if you are short like me ! Pass on this If you are afraid of dogs as they will accompany you up the mountain.

This was a fun experience! The views from the top are amazing! The guide has a bunch of dogs that hike with you. As a dog lover, this was one of my favorite parts of the hike.
The hike was challenging in some spots but definitely doable! If you are an experienced hiker, start towards the front of the group, so you can go faster. There are spots you can stop if you need a break. Bring a lot of water because it does get hot.

GREAT, RIGOROUS CLIMB. Very unique experience. I hike a lot, but this is definitely something different - more "scrambling" with a lot of boulders of varying heights and hands required. I'm sure mountaineers would say it's easy but it's fairly difficult, especially in hot weather. There is some shade where you can rest a few minutes on the hike and when you are at top during a good long break to catch the amazing views. And the dogs are great. I think we had more than fifteen with us - all mutts except for one doberman - and all are friendly and so excited to hike with people. BRING water and a good amount and try to put in a backpack or something as you will use your hands. Enrique is great so whoever said he is a moron is wrong - just be on time. I mean he's not there to baby you as you'll be on your own if you are not up front but everyone in our hike made it up and down safely. We had close to forty people which was a bummer but in the end fine. He does NOT ask for money - I gave $40 b/c I wanted to help the dogs in the shelter and Enrique works hard. Really enjoyed. If you don't like or are afraid of dogs, do not go.

The Dog Whisperer was a great guide. He not only gave us an amazing trip, he gave us a history lesson on Cabo. Very easy to find on the back side of the marina next to the Naval Station. The dogs were a trip too. There is one that will carry rocks instead of a ball. Great hike for anyone, but could be challenging to some.
No cost to hike, but tips are for the dogs. Get there at 8:00 and try not to be late or you will miss part of the history lesson.

Hike itself was good but the guy who runs it is a moron. We did the night hike and waited for over an hour for him after we finished as he had us locked in his property. Ruined the night.

Beautiful views! Excellent detox. Arrive at 8am at the dog training camp for the 8:15am hike. No reservations. Enrique is passionate about sharing his knowledge of the land. The dogs are a joy to hike with. Bring water. Distance is not far (maybe a mile) but you are climbing. Probably took 1.5 hrs total.

Contacted Enrique via WhatsApp (+52 624 122 1316) and he takes groups up from Sunday to Friday at 8:00am. Great hike and even steep inclines are easy to navigate if you've done any hiking before. Make sure to pack water and camera/phone for amazing pics! My teenage kids loved the dogs being on the hike:-) Would absolutely recommend this as part of your Cabo experience!
Our family stayed in San Jose del Cabo and caught the purple bus (40 pesos each) and walked across the Marina to the dog shelter. After the hike, make sure to walk 200 yards to the local beach and take a dip:-)

I will be 22 weeks pregnant when we go to Cabo this month. I am a pretty active hiker so I am wondering if anyone pregnant has attempted this before? Will you recommend it?
Thank you!

As a 78 year old male, I’m unable to put myself in your shoes!😀
However, if you are fit and healthy, you should be fine - it’s usually single file and people often stop to take a breather! Take lots of water…… the views from the top are spectacular!
Good luck!

We hiked with Enrique, and his pack, yesterday. It was awesome. He starts at 8:15 each morning (per note on gate, reach him 624.122.1316). The map in AllTrails app is accurate. Meet across from Naval Station. We parked about a block away for 40 pesos every 2 hours. Message him via FB Ascenso al Cerro del Vigia.
Enjoy! 🥾
Hi, my friends and I will be going to Cabo in a few days and I'm interested in this hike. Do you know how we could get in contact with Enrique?

I’m looking at hiking the same day or within that week also with husband and sister. Hope it’s not hard to find.
