Charlestown is tiny but there is so much to see and do! The Shipwreck Museum is well worth taking time in. The harbour is beautiful, interesting to walk around on any day. I’ve been before when it was stormy - trying to get photos of the water crashing up the harbour walls. Today was warm and sunny with the tide coming in - just as interesting. The basin is now surrounded by various cafes which were lovely. We had a drink at HBQ and Tapas at Cubs on the Deck - the food was delicious, sitting in the late afternoon sun just made it perfect! Cannot recommend highly enough if you enjoy good tapas! Great range of choice for vege and best of all Gluten Free! Perfect end to a lovely day out (spent the morning at Eden).

wandering around Charlestown we came across a small art gallery and wandered in. The gallery is very interesting with a variety of art forms on show. Most impressive for me was a huge piece using fabric and stitching by Deborah Tyrell. By chance Deborah was in the gallery and we were able to have a chat about her work which is truly wonderful. I would have loved to have made her a rich lady by buying several pieces, but alas my favourite pieces were just out of my price range.

It appeared to be under repair at the time. It is very near to the town. The view is pretty and there are shops there for beverage purchases not sure if food was available there too.

Probably the only bit of Nevis you see on the news as people line up to greet Prince Harry on his trip to Nevis or more recently Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, but there is beautiful beach next door called Hangman’s Cove for probably very sombre reasons. Visit the great fruit market in the old Cotton Ginnery, and wander along the front to see the historic cannons, or get on the regular ferry to visit St Kitts.

The trip by small ferry from St.Kitts to Nevis island is worthwhile alone for the volcanic cone of Nevis peak rising in front. The port itself is convenient, since it is in right in the center of Charlestown, but it is not an attraction in itself. Unlike Port Zante at St.Kitts Basseterre there don't seem to be too many cruise ships coming here. There was none, when we visited. And if Nevis should be in their schedule, they would definitely have to anchor in the open and bring their passengers by tender boats to the small pier of Charlestown harbour.
After a stroll through quite pleasant Charlestown we took a taxi outside the port to drive us around the island, where there are some of the more interesting sights, like the Botanical Gardens.

Passed through Charlestown on a trip from St Kitts, very friendly but a little run down like some other places in the Caribbean.

Took Ferry over to Nevis for a quick visit. Cost from St. Kitts cruise port was $10US plus $1 tax per person 1 way. Buy return ticket on your way back. Walked around the little town, not much to do. It looked very laid-back. While on our walk we came upon Nevis's hot spring...couple people were enjoying this. Spent about an hour and a half then back to St. Kitts.

We docked here when coming from St. Kitts on the ferry and we boarded here when we left. Different boats in each direction. Bathroom facilities, little bar and seating in a shaded area to wait in.

Not much to report just a port. We had no reason to access this and nothing really to say about this area as it was pretty and right on the water but nothing remarkable.

The port is clean and felt safe. There's transportation available, including ferries and taxis. Perhaps there is more around during the peak tourism season. However, in September, there really wasn't anything around. There was a VERY small shopping area just off of the port, with minimal shops and nothing of interest to me. The only other attraction I saw in port was the Hamilton House, but that wasn't very exciting. How can you visit an area and not visit the capital? With that in mind, it is worth at least driving through, but you don't need to schedule much time to explore Charlestown and the port area.

where can you leave your Nevis rental car at the Port of Charleston while taking a day trip by passenger ferry over the St. Kitts? Are there taxis waiting at Basseterre ferry port to take you on a day tour? Approximately how much will a tour cost for the half day or day?

We parked our car along the one way road that fronts the waterfront right by the ferry terminal. There are usually several spaces. You can also park in the spaces in the small plaza along the waterfront although that fills up quickly. There is no charge for either. We spent the day in St. Kitts and left our rental there from 8AM until 6PM with no issues. There are dozens of taxis waiting in Bassetarre. We walked from the ferry terminal to the cruise ship dock around the corner and were very lucky to find a very nice mature woman named Jocylyn who has a very nice taxi/van. She is very knowledgeable about the island and will stop for as long as you wish, wherever you want. We let her take the lead and she showed us all the highlights of the island, as well as the small villages and infrastucture. She is extremely polite and knows the history of her home. She charges 30.00 USD per hour for her van. We took extra time, but you can see almost all of the main spots all the way around the island in 3-31/2 hours. All the taxi's have some kind of name painted across their front end or on the windshield. I'm sure someone at the taxi station at the dock will know her, and can point you in the right direction if you choose. She goes by Joyce, and her van is named REJOICE IN HOPE . Very safe driver. We were warned to be wary of some of the younger drivers who can drive a little aggressive. Hope this helps you.
