It is beautiful and unspoiled. Great photo opportunity with island in the background and Cane Garden Bay in the distance. There were four or five buoys there with half of them empty by the time we left in the midafternoon on our way to Great Harbor, JVC. Getting that BoatyBall reservation gives you lots of flexibility to enjoy simple pleasures like this island.

This was one if my favourite spots in BVI! It’s not as popular and so beautiful! We anchored off shore and swam in. Some people take a dinghy but swimming is just easier. Bring shoes to shore though!! There’s a lovely hiking trail around the island. Nature is coming back after the hurricane, but the trail has been cleared. There’s TONS of hermit crabs of all sizes here!! There’s some pretty cool shrines (not sure what else you’d call them?! Artwork?!) on the beaches that people have made with rocks, broken coral, driftwood, etc. would be a nice place for photographers or for a day time picnic!!

Your own private island for hiking, swimming, snorkeling or just laying on the beach. Mooring balls available and a great place to stop for a few hours

Visited Sandy Cay while on a day charter, and spent a few hours relaxing on its pristine beaches and exploring the untouched nature preserve! My teens enjoyed walking the island, and spotting hermit crabs, bright yellow finches, doves, and the unspoiled beauty. Great place for nature lovers- quiet, peaceful, and certainly enjoyable! There is a VERY strong current getting on and off the island, so parents beware of little ones, who may not be strong swimmers!

When you approach the island you feel like you're in a dream. How could such beauty really exist? Yet it does... Perfect white beaches, the most beautiful turquoise water you can imagine. Spectacular to just walk around and explore the small island. There is a lot of wildlife living here. The snorkeling is good around the island as well. This little gem of an island is definitely worth the time to experience.

Great out of the way island to spend a day. Wear water shoes and take the trail around the island. There are beautiful views and loads of hermit crabs and birds to watch. Great Sandy beach to hang out at as well.

Sandy Cay is a small island on the way in or out from Jost Van Dyke. If you approach a little bit you'll realize that the place is not to be missed. Is a 2 hours stop, the most, but completely worth it. Go and walk the island around, remember your flip flops or something for your feet in case you go on a sunny day because at the top of the island you can burn your feet, like I did, and enjoy just a little bit t less the view. Take your phone or camera for the walk to, I didn't, and again it was worth it for the cliffs view from the top. The beach is beautifull, and the snorkelling really nice as well.

De regreso de Jost Van Dyke pasamos por Sandy Cay mientras ibamos a pasar la noche a Cane Garden Bay, nos parecio una pequeña pero soñada islita con una playa lindisima asi que a la mañana sigueinte bien temprano partimos para agarrar una boya ya que vimos que eran pocas, Solo podes quedarte tres horas por que son las boyas rojas de buceo,
Tirarte desde el catamaran a nadar es lo ideal ya que no estan permitidos los vehiculos con motor por que es una reserva natural.Podes acercarte a motor y bajar rapidamente sin que permanezca el bote. Lamentablemente la isla tiene un pequeño cartel el cual leen pocos y otros se hacen los distraidos donde explica las pautas de conservacion de la isla.
Podes recorrer la isla que tiene un sendero con bastante fauna local y es un recorrido corto ya que es pequeña.
Lindisimo lugar para snorkelear y disfrutar del mar , super recomendable.
