Safe secure and a wide variety of options- especially for cigars and rum - but definitely a tourist trap. 30 minutes and you’re in and out.

We signed up for this tour from our Sunwing rep who explained it would be a nice, shopping trip to an air conditioned mall and showed us pictures of what it looked like. We were waiting in our hotel lobby for a 12:20 pickup and at that time a guy came over and said "Shopping?". We said yes. "2 people?" We said yes, and asked him if he was from Sunwing. He said yes. We got in the van thinking this was what we were looking for, but he took us to a small strip mall type place (see white van on left hand side of photo). If this is where you are taken it is the wrong place! The scammers simply take you to the store of their buddies and hope you'll buy something there. We got out of the van and realized right away what was happening. We got back in the van and the driver said he'd take us to the mall, but I meanwhile googled the directions to the Belle Mare mall and he had turned left instead of right on the main drag, which would have taken us to the Belle Mare mall. I knew he was going the wrong way. He took us to another "mall", which was obviously not the mall we wanted either and we demanded he take us back to our hotel immediately. When we got back we spoke to the Sunwing rep who was happy to hear what had happened because he said they were getting alot of no-show's lately and couldnt' figure out why....well it's because scammers were picking up the passengers instead of the actual shuttle that had been booked. So be careful! If the driver doesn't know your name or room number, don't get in!

Don’t go, expensive and they keep you there for way to long. The resorts all get commission so you aren’t even supporting the locals.

We were told by our tour guide that we had a complimentary shopping trip. Pickup was smooth but immediately in turning into the parking lot I knew something was wrong. The building was unmarked and in poor condition. Walking inside we were asked to go see the cigar “maker” after multiple times telling them we did not smoke. The workers were very pushy and when you looked up the items online they are a lot cheaper. Everything is tagged in USD and you pay in USD but your receipt is in Dominican Peso. When I converted it they actually took an extra $4 USD. This place is a tourist trap, plain and simple.

Took a quick trip here from our resort. The staff was very helpful. They have someone rolling cigars directly in front of you which is awesome.
The pricing of the souvenirs was expensive. Higher than even your resort gift shop.
This is a skip in my opinion. Unless you are looking for something free to get your out of your resort.

We are treated to a 5-minute presentation on the cigar factory and then we observe a man rolling them by hand.
This is the first part of this tour which precedes the 30 to 60 minutes of shopping where we find alcohol, coffee, chocolate, Larimar jewelry and others, clothes, hygiene products and beauty and, finally, tourist trinkets of probably Asian origin. All at higher prices than in other commercial outlets: you have to pay for free transport from hotels and the various commissions paid to guides.
Finally, this allows you to get an idea of the price that should not be exceeded during this “free” getaway.

June 2023: 1⭐: I don't think I could recommend this shopping location. It is just like a timeshare presentation where you are sent here by the hotel front desk personnel because they mention that there is a shopping trip into the town that picks up at the front of the hotel. It's further mentioned that the shopping trip will take about an hour and a half to two hours and the transportation is free. When you arrive at this location, you are greeted by a post who starts to talk and ask if you are aware of the purpose of the shopping trip. Most of us standing there say no, but the host then begins to explain that it is essentially a time-share type shopping trip where you have to buy something or pay for your transportation back to the hotel. He begins to try and sell us cigars that were being prepared by the shop to sell to customers walking through the presentation area. Gives us a background about the cigars and the process of growing tobacco, drying tobacco, pressing the tobacco after it's rolled into a cigar, and then offering to allow the guest customer to smoke it. My spouse and I declined the offer since we don't smoke. We were caught by the chocolate sellers as soon as we left the tobacco sellers and decided to get some bars wrapped up in the flag colors of the country. We paid $12 for two chocolate bars that cost $1 each in the USA. We were tagged by the coffee shop makers and we declined since we don't drink coffee. Several of the workers tried to get us to sample and drink the alcohol to which we definitely declined since we don't drink alcohol. We went into take a look at the clothing and saw that a t-shirt was $35 USD. I don't recall the last time I was on vacation and I spent $35 USD for a t-shirt. In fact, I have never spent $35 USD for a t-shirt. For me to buy T-shirts for my six family members would cost $210 USD. The other small items seen in the store like the magnet was $15 USD. I bought some fragrances that I scanned with my phone and found that it was available at high end online stores in 18 ounces for $13.95 USD with free shipping to my home. At this location, I paid $13 USD for my spouse at one of the interior stores for a single bottle. The workers in this building seemed to try hard to make a sale, but I was already of one mindset at this point. This whole thing brought two words to my mouth, tourist trap!!

O ponto positivo é que te buscam no hotel. Vende alguns itens típicos como charutos, chocolates e café. Preços elevados. Do resto são produtos comuns que não vale a pena comprar em uma viagem.

Pretty boring, pre-programmed tour. I understand they want somewhere “safe” for tourists to go, but……. The wait for the bus after we got there was long, prices were high. No local artists to talk to. Just as overpriced as the resort stores. If you like cigars, it may be a good experience. Otherwise don’t even bother

My mother purchased a necklace with a guarantee. The necklace broke the first time my daughter wore it. I’ve been reaching out to them for over a week with no response.
