schedule:
Be prepared for a day trip from Chongqing with public transport. Dont only consider „Three Natural Bridges“ but also „Longshuixia Difeng.“ Take the first train in the morning at 8 AM from Chongqing North and dont book a return before 5PM. 7 PM works best especially if you want to have lunch and/or dinner in the village and take ur time. Keep in mind that local trains back to town take 3 hours.

Getting there:
Book the local train to Wulong (2h) and take a Didi from Wulong train station to the tourist visitor centre (40 mins) up in the mountain. Buy tickets to Three Natural Bridges first. The ticket includes a bus transfer to the scenic spot (15mins) as private transport doesnt seem to be allowed beyond this point.

three natural bridges:
We went on a Friday in July 24, there were not that many people. Everything from ticketing, to bus transfer to entry went smooth. The bridges look stunning and the area is beautiful. Go if u are fed up with the city. However, dont expect a hiking experience as there are given and paved tourist routes with steps which lead u through. Probably spend 1.5 hours. Buy tickets for Longshuixia Difeng at the exit of Three Natural Bridges and use the bus transfer directly from the exit to the entrance of Longshuixia.

Longshuixia Difeng:
Is another gorge with a huge waterfall and a way more exciting tourist route alongside the gorge up in the air. It seems a bit more exciting to walk than Three Natural Bridges and the waterfall is directly approached and u can even kind of walk through. We liked it better. Get on the bus and go back to the tourist center. In the village up there are many restaurants, it was not that noisy and packed. It looked quite relaxing.

All the scenic spots have tons of public toilets, food offers and infrastructure. U do not need to bring much.

We visited during Golden Week in the morning (ticket office opens 7.30AM). Crowds not too bad. The elevator down seemed only option, we could not find the path down. Price: 110RMB incl elevator and shuttle bus. You need around 2hrs in total. Very beautiful area, worth the visit when you are in Chongqing.

非常壮丽的喀斯特地貌!不虚此行!我们非常幸运,只在坑底赶上了阵雨。
可以通过人行步道或电梯到达坑底。步行约需30-40分钟,全部是下坡路段。道路状况很好,雨天较湿滑。

It’s the World Natural Heritage, National AAAAA Scenic Spot, and National Geological Park. The spot is 23 kilometers from Wulong city, it’s the typical karst landform. The Natural Bridges include Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge and Heilong Bridge, conder sky hole and Tianlong sky hole. The three grand bridges and two sky holes constitute the natural wonders. The average height of three stone bridges is more than 300 meters, and average span is more than 500 maters, it is the largest natural bridges group in the world. The wondeful scenery makes here become the only outdoor photograph location of Director Zhang Yimou’ s movie “The City of Golden Armor”, and it’s also the important outdoor photograph location of  “ The transformers 4”.

This is one of the bucket lists to be ticked off. The place was amazing, you will firstly went down to the lift into the "Heaven hole" and then pleasantly walked down toward the tea-house. It was amazing sight and you would also see a wonder geographic of the mother earth!!! a worthy place to visit.

When I first saw it, there was a girl next to me crying throughout the show. Moved by this girl and the enthusiasm of the audience, I became emotional as well, especially in the scene of the “Crying Marriage”: “Cry, just for this day and no more crying afterwards.” The“Impression of Wulong” earned both the tickets of the audience and the tears.

During the show, they washed their feet in a waterless tub. Although you couldn’t see their face, you could still feel their mix of joy and fear before marriage. They sang, “Oh, my father and my mother, only when I marry can I understand your adversity.” Then they walked slowly out of the hallway and began their marriage journey with a shy dance. Finally, a bride in a red dress humbled herself and laid down in front of a red diamond. This was the most impressive image of the whole scene, showing the true beauty of the Chongqing girl.

Why is it called “Crying Marriage”? In our daily life marriage is normally a happy thing. In this performance, however, the point is to present the cultural aspect. According to legend, this custom originated in the Warring States period. The princess of the state of Zhao got married in the state of Yan and became a queen. Her mother held on to her heels and cried when she left, hoping that she would not return and would live a happy life in Yan. This is the origin of the “Crying Marriage” custom. This custom was still prevalent in the rural areas of Sichuan in the late Qing dynasty. In the late 1980s, the Han region in the northern mountainous areas of Sichuan province still had this custom as well.

In the old days, a “Crying Marriage” had many purposes. It was a way to thank parents for their concern and brothers and sisters for their care. It also helped to express sorrow for the end of the carefree girlhood and the confusion and unknown of the new married life. In addition, it was used to convey the dissatisfaction and hatred of arranged marriages.

The“ Impression of Wulong” presents not only the history and culture of Ba(Chongqing used to be called Ba), but also the art forms and lifestyles that are on the verge of disappearing. The collision between modern and traditional culture encourages more personal reflection and calls for the salvaging of said traditional culture before it’s too late and it’s lost forever.

Excellent park. Really surreal experience! Since information is a bit hard to come by, here are some details on out visit:

Getting here: there are buses from Chongqing to wulong and then wulong to the visitor center. But we took one of the your buses instead, which was more convenient since they leave from downtown Chongqing (in front of the crown plaza) and take you straight to the visitor center. The cost is about the same. To book it, you need to go on ctrip.com (not trip.com). Then use the Google translate option and browse for transportation packages in Chongqing. The cost was 55 Yuan one way and we also booked a breakfast (KFC) that they gave to us on the bus). You can book your seat as well. We didn't return with the bus, but you can.

Tickets: the ticket is 70 Yuan for the park, 15 for the elevator, 30 for the bus there and back and another 25 for the electric car at the end. We didn't take the car or the elevator (you need to tell them you don't want the elevator when buying, otherwise they will automatically include it). Student discount applies to park fee only, so 35 Yuan.

The park: from the visitor center, you take the bus to the bumblebee entrance. If you are taking the elevator, line up and wait your turn. If not walk a little further and across the street, and start descending. It's all walking down, and quite a nice walk, so I would recommend it. Plus, you avoid the line ups.

If you didn't take the elevator, backtrack a bit, to see the view of the teahouse and then continue on through the park. The whole walk is about 2 hours and there isn't anywhere to get lost. At the end, you'll have the option of the electric car or walking up. It's not a very strenuous walk, so it's up to you.

I suppose you can also forego the bus, but I don't imagine the walk along the road would be very nice.

From here, you also have the option of going to to the Longsheng fissure. BUT everyone does it in this order (three bridges first and the gorge second). So I would suggest to do the gorge first, it's pretty empty in the morning and three bridges always has people anyway.

The whole thing takes about 2.5 hours so plenty of time for another activity on the same day.

When you are in Chongqing, you should pay a visit to Wulong. Then, invest time and money going to Three Natural bridges. It's totally worth going there especially if you are a nature-lover like me. You won't feel tired walking and sightseeing. You will be amazed on how were the karsts shaped into eagle, chimpanzee and a lot more. These were shapes thru time passes by. Also, you will get a bonus wherein one of the scenes in Transformers was shot. This place is a jewel worth keeping forever. 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
