The town/village is like Swiss alps ski-resort with many luxurious hotels and Chinese/western style restaurants. Did not have the possibility for downhill skiing as trip was in July and the slopes were green instead of white. Some nice activities also in summer time, 4WD drive buggy driving up to mountains, farm animals, horse riding and all was organized well. Would recommend to visit during winter time instead and enjoy the winter activities. Direct train from Beijing available. This is one of the places to visit, either summer or winter is OK.

Good slopes, big area it really is a great place to ski for a few days. Facilities are all new, the rental equipment could be a bit better though. All in all it is pretty good place with a few restaurants to relax and a western bar to drink a few beers after a long ski day

There are a lot of fun runs to choose from as well as a well groomed terrain park. Good variety for all levels, and excellent lifts. Was not crowded when I was there. Good range of restaurants including western options including KFC, Starbucks and a beer pub which has a happy hour from 3-5pm every day. An excellent getaway from Beijing.
It is now easy to get to with an express train to Taizicheng taking less than an hour from Beijing. Shuttle buses take you to the resort in about 5 minutes.

Nice area, good location, new hotels, we made a 3day trip from Beijing, it is not so far away. We were lucky because we could see a lot of handicapped skiing people, properly training for the winter games

I agree with the other reviews that it is not Europe as far as skiing goes, but I think it is the best ski resort in China. It has great hotels with good value for money and already quite a lot of ski runs and enough lifts. The equipment is good quality and easy to rent. You can rent everything you meed, including ski suits. As soon as the speed train starts running from Beijing in a few weeks this place will be very popular.

Hieno, kompakti laskettelukeskus Pekingin pohjoispuolella vuoristossa.

Had the opportunity to do a quick visit to ski and dine at the peak of a mountain (2.160 m). It was a new experience. You do not need skis, but can take the gondola up to a great view over the Taiwoo resort and over to two other new ski resorts. The food was fantastic! We had an «Austrian barbecue», and I will never forget the pork! Really worth a visit if you are in the area.

I have been here on March 9, 2019. First of all, I want to clarify that if you normally go skiing in European countries (on the Italian, Swiss, Austrian, French alps) or in America, here the general atmosphere is totally different. Forget the beautiful Europeans mountains, peaks, glaciers and so on. Everything here (except the mountain) is basically man-made, especially the snow and the slopes which seem to be planned by using some kind of software to make them perfectly flat even when they are very steep (in Europe we have bumps everywhere, here you can not see one unless made it intentionally). Anyway, considering that you are in China, it's a very nice experience to ski here in Thaiwoo resort. There is a gongola-lift which is split in 2 sections (you need to get off at the end of the first section and walk in again for the second section), and 3 chairlifts (2 six-seats chairlifts and 1 four-seats chairlifts). Currently 2 more chairlifts are planned to be built this summer (see the red dotted lines showed in my attached picture), one of them start from the village and arrive directly at the base of the four-seats chairlift (you will no more need to ski down to arrive there as you do now by using the six-seats chairlift starting from the village), while the second section (more interesting!) should take you up to the top of the mountain at 2122 meters a.s.l. just over the arrival station of the four-seats chairlift, this should allow to enjoy a "black" slope down to the village. Going back to the today's situation, the 4-seats chairlift is “surrounded” by very easy slopes, ideal for beginners and for organizing easy-level ski racings among friends or small groups. The best part for hardcore skiers to have fun is the six-seats chairlift which prompts you up to the top of the mountain (2160 meters a.s.l.), allowing you to get down by selecting one of the several black slopes. I think the most difficult slope is the "lambada" slope, unfortunately I could not test it as it was closed that day and the local ski teachers which were doing some training there did not let me get down from this slope. There is another black slope called "modern dancing" which I like very much, be careful if you are beginners as it's quite steep (although no bumps at all as I said before). I went there by joining a group so everything was well organized in advance and I can not tell you how the ski equipment rental service works, the food is OK, there is a brew house in the village just in front of the starting point and a good Italian food restaurant at the gondola's middle station. Starbucks is always there for emergencies. In conclusion, I was satisfied about my skiing day here in Thaiwoo, next time I want to try Wanlong ski resort as I heard that it's more technical than this one. Have fun!

Stayed a weekend at the Hyatt. They “frozen” a deposit of RMB 2,500 from my credit card when I checked in. When I checked out they told me that they had given the deposit back to me and they made me pay another RMB 1,495 for the weekend. One week later the two charges are still on my account. To sum up: I have paid RMB 2,500 AND RMB 1,495. I do not care if Hyatt did wrong or if their bank did wrong. Hyatt should make sure this is done properly. This is not the way to gain customer loyalty.

Thaiwoo is just ok, if you can’t fly somewhere worth your while to ski/snowboard. Problem number one: the lifts close at 4:30pm. Two: every run is Blue or MAYBE Red. Nothing challenging. Three: the Chinese have no regard for the whole “no smoking” thing... even in the gondolas they smoke. The only saving feature of this “resort” is the terrain park, which closed at 3:30. Don’t go here, overpriced and unimpressive.

Hi Mindarose! I'm wondering if you got any responses or leads regarding transportation for Thaiwoo? I'm here now for Spartan Race as well and I can't seem to find transportation going back to Zhangjiakhou or Beijing Capital. Hope to hear from you. Thanks!
