This is the central region of the Naxi Dongba Holy land, the ancient city is the source of Lijiang. The statue of the God of Nature is the holy ground for worshiped by the Naxi tribe. There is a small fountain of holy running water which visitors can collect water to drink for good luck and good wishes. As you walk along, there is a pond full of beautiful pricey yellow fish. This place is worth a visit as the surrounding is serene.

We have been in China 3 years and Asia 7 so we have seen ALOT of temples. Both the 'square for the worship of the nature gods' and the Dongba temple were unusual enough to be added as some of our favourite temples so far.
We took the number 6 bus (local bus) from Lijiang. We got on at the first stop and off at the last so even though we have no Chinese it was easy to navigate- it cost 1RMB and took about 45 minutes.
Also known as the Jade water village, the tickets included a map (in Chinese) but there were other maps displayed around the village that have English and the route is circular so we found it easy to navigate. There are a few stopping points along the way but the air sacrificing field, temple and nature gods really stood out. The temple was peaceful and we loved sitting there and listening to the wind rattle the thousands of bells from the hanging prayers. It is still active so we experienced a number of tour groups circling and praying. There are also some interesting wall frescoes at the side of the temple that explain more about the Dongba/ Naxi culture and which are explained in English. The statues of the nature gods were also fascinating (snake bodies but animal/ human heads) and included animals we were surprised to see such as a seahorse. The fish in the ponds are also unusual as they are not koi carp but are extremely well looked after!
To return to Lijiang, the number 6 bus departed from the car park (not the bus stop on the road). There are a number of car parks- follow the signs to the tourist information centre as it is close to the bus stop. The bus stop is on the signs once you are in the correct car park!
This wasn't originally on our list of places to see but will definitely be recommending to others.

Our tour bus stopped at this locale. Took about 30 minutes. There is a half mile path that takes you around some ponds stocked with bright orange salmon. Not sure what species but have never seen any salmon quite so bright orange. They look like koi but they are not.
There is also a big golden statue of a snake and some prayer sites. You can fill your water bottle with magical drinking water if you like but don’t slash it on your self of they will get mad at you.
There are no signs explaining what you are looking at so unless you come with a guide you won’t learn much.

The highlight of this stop is the statue of the God of Nature, which is worshipped by the Naxi tribe (纳西族) and the temple.
The Dong ba (东巴) religion worships nature and is different from the religions in most of Asian culture as far as I know. The god of nature has human upper torso and power torso of 9 cobras. There are also many statues or paintings with animals heads and human/ snake bodies.
It will be more interesting if you have a guide explaining the culture/ religion.
Recommend to spend 1 hour here.

It's a great place to just relax with fewer people around. There's a passable restaurant at the top, which made for a nice respite. The salmon (a fresh-water variety, FYI) are unique.
The number 6 bus runs periodically from the foot of the park. It's fine for getting back to Lijiang (it goes past Shuhe Ancient Town, then straight into town). It's very crowded going toward the park (and often the driver won't let people on).

This is a small but nice park to visit. Highlight is salmon as they claim that it's only place to have it.
