Located in the heart of the city, Ujjayanta Palace is a magnificent monument, the people of Tripura can feel proud of.
Spread across a huge area, the palace is an example of neo-classical architecture which is a blend of Greek and Roman style architecture. The palace also has a mughal style garden at the front and 2 big lakes, 1 on each side.
Interiors of the Palace is beautiful with amazing tiles and ceiling.
The Palace is definitely a treat for the eyes of visitors.
It used to host the Vidhan Sabha (state assembly) but later was converted to a museum, some 10 years back. It has got two floors displaying the rich history, art, culture, flaura and fauna of Tripura along with 6 other sisters of North Eastern states in the form of paitings, stone and wodden sculpture, replicas, coins etc.
It will take at least 2-3 hours to completely explore the museum (varies from person to person based on interest).

A visit after sunset is also wonderful as the palace gets lit up in tricolors and there is a small fountain at its front, also lit up. In such conditions, the palace can be seen straight ahead from a very long distance of the city.

Helpful tips
1. Entry fee is 20 ₹ for Indians. Better to have photo ID proof, though they don't always ask for it.
Foreign nationals have a higher entry fee (very less if you convert to $ or other major foreign currencies).
2. No photography allowed inside the building. However you can click pictute outside.
3. The timings mentioned in the google is wrong.
There is a different timings for Summer and winter. Opened on all weekdays except National and state holidays.

The Palace of the Royal family of Tripura, this is an awesome place .Constructed in 1901 by Martin and Burn Company, the name was given by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The architecture is mind blowing . This walled one square kilometre area dotted with beautiful greens amidst the hustle and bustle of the city is a place of relaxation for all sections. Apart from its quiet ambience, it rooms are filed with pages from history of Tripura, the reflection of the States' culture, artistry, flora and Fauna. There is a section dedicated to information on the Bangladesh Mukti Juddho (Bangladesh liberation from Pakistan 1971) and the important role played by Tripura in providing succor to the refugees from across the border in 1971.The museum is closed on government holidays and on Mondays. There is an entry fee of Rs.10/-.If one has an interest in history and wants to explore the variety of culture ,then this is a place of good value.

This is a rare instance when the best museum is housed in the most beautiful building. The state Museum was shifted to Ujjayanta Palace in 2011,
This is truly a magnificent museum, maintained so well with so much of items that I rate this as one of the best museums in the country. It showcases history, culture, ethnicity, traditions, lifestyle, arts, crafts, customs, traditions and practices of not only Tripura but entire North East India.
The museum has beautiful and valuable collection of sculptures, terracota, coins, copper and stone inscriptions, bronze images, textiles, oil paintings, sketches, drawings, ornaments, musical instruments, art and craft objects, folk articles and life size statues and paintings.
You should have sufficient time to appreciate the treasure this museums has and take full advantage of its contents to enhance your knowledge of the state and entire north east India.
The guides are well informed and helpful.

This museum is inside the main Agartala Palace, spread over two floors. Here you get a glimpse of the past of Tripura from approximately 1050 ACE. Special emphasis is on the royal lineage over many generations. The arts and artifacts are limited, but worth a visit. There is a special section dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore.

Ujjayanta Palace is really the heart of Agartala. Its architecture is mix of British and Indian style which makes it a gorgeous palace. Museum gives us a lot of information about North-East's culture and tradition. One can also know about North-East's dressing sense, festivals and lifestyle through visiting this beautiful museum. Moreover, it tells about historical facts of Tripura and Neighboring states. We appreciate Tripura Government for well maintained museum. Here , one can also encounter a brief history about life of of Laureate Rabindranath Tagore . A must visit in Agartala.
