I have been eyeing on the South Downs Way for such a long time. I had a great day thanks to Colin @ Hassocks Community Cycle Hire.
I feel like lottery waiting for what bike I'm going to ride. Colin prepared a large size Orbea hard-tail, which was fantastic with confidence building Kenda tyre.
A repair kit, pump and tyre are all provided for. Paper map from the shop is useful when things don't work as planned (GPS crash, phone battery died).
Next time I'll come by train because the centre is right in front of the station.

Excellent friendly service very responsive to our timings and needs, good advice on trails. The bikes were perfect for our needs and the prices very reasonable- the family rate particularly welcome! Great selection of routes in the Hassocks area- including some technical stuff, gravel roads, small lanes with pretty villages and of course the bridleways on the Downs.

We had a fab day out on these bikes during our stay in the beautiful local area. So handy that its right next to the station so we could get straight on the train. Colin was great and made it easy to arrange collecting and dropping off the bikes, as well as helping plan our routes and giving us recommendations. The bikes themselves are top-notch too !
Would HIGHLY recommend renting bikes for a local stay from these guys!

My husband and I had a fantastic New Year’s Day riding on the South Downs. I can highly recommend hassocks community bike hire. Colin was quick to respond to emails and very accommodating opening up for us on New Year’s Day. He helped us out with route planning and made sure we had everything we need.

Toby and Will were very helpful and made sure we had the best possible bikes for our cycling trip on the south down way. Bikes were perfect for our needs, and all helmets, repair and tool kits were provided. Quick and efficient service. Good maps provided

Can’t speak highly enough about Hassocks Community Cycle. Right next to the station and 10 mins cycle to Jack and Jill windmills for a beautiful ride along the South Downs towards Lewes.
Wonderful views. Great service.
For a shorter ride you can drop down to Half Moon in Plumpton and ride back along the road.

We can't say enough about our wonderful experience with Hassocks Community Cycle Hire. Located right at Hassocks station, it couldn't be more convenient for tourists in the area, and Colin, who helped us out, arranged everything on our schedule. Our boys are 12 and 14, and Colin made sure each of us had the bike he or she needed. He had very helpful suggestions for riders new to the area--from scenic trails to where to have breakfast--and our trip was richer for them. Maps are available with excellent rides clearly indicated. Most helpfully, Colin let us return the bikes the morning after our rental concluded, so we did not have to hurry home from our travels before closing time. It was just perfect.
