The boat cruise was a little disappointing. The mic had a lot of static so it was difficult to understand what the guide was saying. There are two levels on the boat but we stayed on the bottom in terms of hoping to get some close up photographs and hopefully hear the descriptions better. I believe almost everyone in our group ended up on the ground level for the same reasons. The birdlife and their nests was a highlight of the ride. At the time of our visit, there was very little wildlife. We did see hippos! You are never promised to see any wildlife, it is a matter of luck when and where the animals are. I would still give them a try as you never know and it is always wonderful to be out on the water.

Visited these Wetlands as part of a day out from our Cruise Ship docked at Richards Bay. Basically a nearly 2 hour coach ride each way, and a 2 hour afternoon boat boat ride,along a wide river estuary, where we saw lots of Hippos heads, a glimpse of a small crocodile and some colourful birds. Would have been a pleasant afternoon if staying locally, but little reward for such a long trip. The boat itself was ok, they provided us with vouchers for 2 drinks, and gave a decent commentary, trying to make what was basically a bit boring, into something interesting

It's one of the must excursions when in St Lucia ... the cost of R380 per adult for a 2 hour trip on the Santa Lucia. There are 3 pods of hippos with approximately 20 per pod that we were able to view. Surprisingly, no crocodiles .. apparently with the changes in the eco system, the crocodiles are not as visible as previously

I have no complaints regarding the excursion itself. The boat was good, the commentary was interesting and educational and the weather was excellent. We just went at the wrong time of day. The hippos were all in the water and not very visable and we saw very little other wildlife - zero crocs. It was a pleasant ride on the estuary, just not much wildlife to see.

We visited St Lucia on a private tour from our Cruise ship.We were looking forward to observing, hippo, crocodile and bird life during this cruise.
Sadly only one crocodile appeared but we managed to get very close to it. There were plenty of Hippo's and we saw an African Fish Eagle, Yellow weavers and egrets..
There was ample room on the boat to move around to take photo's. It was a good way to spend a couple of hours on a boat, just a pity about the elusive crocodiles.

Vi var med i en grupp och åkte på floden några timmar. Det fanns inte mycket att se. Endast ett antal flodhästar som låg stilla invid vassen och några fåglar men det var på långt håll.

Ne surtout pas y aller ! Sur leur page , vous trouvez de magnifiques photos de crocodiles et d hippopotames et la réalité est tout autre ! Aucun crocodile, et vous voyez à peine le bout du nez de qq hippo ! Sans aucun intérêt ! C est une arnaque pour touristes ! Et par dessus le marché , le bateau était rempli de personnes sans aucune éducation qui hurlaient ! Vous ne pouvez même pas profiter de la quiétude des lieux !

Good day. Thank you for your feedback on your experience. We are very disappointed that you did not enjoy the cruise. Unfortunately, there are occasions when the wildlife is not as abundant which is out of our control. We have noted your further comments about loud guests on board the cruise and will share these with our supplier for them to take into consideration on future cruises.

The scenery is magnificent, calming and you can actually fall into sleep. But there's nothing much to see except pod of hippos all over and a very few bird species. We saw 1 large lizard, not a single crocodile. There was a Impala but was too far, only the gentleman with binoculars confirmed it.
Also its strange that there is no speed point on board yet internet service was sufficient throughout.

The cruise itself was great. The sightings were great.
However we found the staff very apathetic is terms of serving drinks and snacks. We were told that we could pay with cash or card, however once on board were told that it was cash only.
I think we were also the only members onboard who had not brought their own booze and food.

The Hippo cruise was a great experience! We were only exploring St. Lucia for future clients and went on our boat cruise the following day after scheduling with the tour guide Sia (probably spelled differently). The boat was packed with people and if you are interested in photos taking by a real camera and not only smartphones, you have to think ahead and position yourself before the hoards of tourists climb over you to take a blurry photo for their family. Anyway, we were lucky with our sightings and saw plenty of hippos as well as crocodiles and birds. It was quite windy but still all right. The team on the cruise were friendly. If you did not pack a lunch bag, you were provided snacks and drinks on the boat. The guide was talking through the microphone with some facts about the area and hippos in general, which was quite interesting, if he wasn't interrupted by others or the microphone cracking! All in all, it was a nice experience and we enjoyed it very much.
