We had a wonderful day with Lester, our driver and guide for the day. Pick-up was on time and we were friendly greeted by Lester. On our way to the Orang Utan Island we already had nice conversations with Lester about the region, Malaysian culture and habits, so we felt immediately at ease with our host of the day. On our way we stopped at a gas station were we bought some orange juice as advised by Lester, because apparently orang utans love to drink this. Lester himself had already brought along 2 bags of coconuts, also to give to the orang utans. Once we were at the island we were greeted by a friendly ranger, and we were lucky to witness already at the entrance a mother orang utan, named Kate, with her small baby, together with another female, which appeared to be a good girlfriend of the mother. Also Lester appeared to be very knowledgeable about the orang utans and it was clear that he also loves them. We got all the information about the animals, their names, their relationships and their origins. We were also lucky that we could see and meet almost the whole family at the island... and they were happy to taste our coconuts and orange juice. It was a wonderful experience. From there we drove to the Penang Kek Lok Si Temple. Also there Lester gave us more insights about the Buddhist religion and habits and also about the influences that were introduced the Chinese. And everywhere he made pictures of us that he will share on Google Drive with us. Finally we went to a covered street food market, were he also introduced us to some nice local foods.
Time was really flying by as Lester was such a nice and friendly guide, with lots of knowledge and experience.
So, if you ever go to Penang, ask for Lester!

Booked this trip for 4 people. We had Lester as our driver and he was 5 Star Fabulous!!
Contacted me straight away via WhatsApp to confirm pick up. There was 4 of us on the tour and he arrange for us to pick up fruit for the Organutans. He is so knowledgeable about these wonderful animals and we had a fabulous spot to feed them and see them.
After we finished at the island he took us to Penang Hill. Had such a brilliant afternoon here. He is so much fun and has so much local knowledge, best day out we had on our Malaysian Trip. Also took lots of photos and videos of us and sent them on to me afterwards.

Hi Julie, thanks for the review. A trip to Orang Utan Island on mainland Peninsular Malaysia is always a refreshing break with lots of greenery, ferry ride, highway travel, bridges crossing and playful Orang Utan. Seeing them is a break from city life and the highlight of the day. Glad you liked it.
Also you can easily spend some 2-3 days in Penang, a truly hidden gem. Lots of time we got comment from guests like "If I have known, I will allocated more tour days in Penang". Have a great day ahead. Cheers.

We were so lucky, we were the only two people on the island so we had the whole time with the Orangutans. Our guide was superb, very knowledgeable and passionate. We fed the family and gave them drinks, overseen by the ranger. Could not have asked for a better trip.

Thank you Adrian. It was fun able to see Orang Utan up close and personal. We loved to share what Penang and its surrounding areas has to offer and Orang Utan tour comes up top. I hope more of your friends and relatives will pay a visit to Orang Utan (namely BJ, Cha Cha, April, Hang Li Po, Manu, Hiroshi etc). Have a nice days. Cheers.

Fantastic day with our driver and tour guide Mr Lester. Very knowledgeable about attractions and history of Penang. Mr Lester was very easy to talk to and scheduled our visits to the attractions we wanted to see. Attractions were the Orangutan island, reclining Buddha, Chew Jetty, and local food hall for lunch. Would recommended this tour for everyone and Mr Lester as a driver and guide.

Our tour guide was prompt and incredibly knowledgeable. After the Orang Utan Island tour, he brought us to taste some local food and then helped us to decide what else we wanted to do. He knew all about the history of the island and made everything more interesting.
