Booked the trip a few weeks in advance but it took until 12 hours before we were to be collected to get a confirmation, I recieved a Awhatsapp message saying we would be collected at 07.00 next morning, I explained we were in the hotel next door with the same address, the answer was pretty clear and everything understood. Next morning 45 mins late a Whatsapp message asking where we were as they were lost.
Once collected we set off in the not so luxury air conditioned car, we stopped a couple of times for the driver to use the toilet, arriving in Alexandra our guide "Mohamed" explained we had to pay for everything, entrance fees, lunch, fuel etc, an argument then ensued as I had paid for all this in advance, he eventually conceeded and we went on. I must say I thought Alexandra was supposed to be a jewel of Egypt but as we drove through the streets all I could think about was the film black hawk down and was sure we were going to have out throats slit. We arrived at the first attraction the crypt's or catacoombs, Mohamed didn't seem to know much about anything really other than the place was found due to a donkey falling into a hole, turns out it was the burial place of a Greek and his wife, we learned more from the other tour guides in the same place Mohamed was keen to sit and watch. Onto Pompeys Pillar "That's it, nothing here except that so have a walk round and take your time" Mohamed explained. He was more concerned that Tripadvisor would not give him an account so he could start his own business....doing what I wonder
The Citadel was a nice place but no commentary and all we did was walk around it, lunch was in a seaside cafe which was ok, the waiter said drinks were extra and had to be paid for out of our own pocket 200LE later for 2 small glasses of orange we were off back to the hotel.
I admit I could have given them more of a tip but a tip is a tip as far as I'm concerned should be earned, neither of them put themselves out, I had paid quite a lot for this VIP one-one private trip only to feel like I'd been ripped off.
I later got a Whatsapp message from Mohamed saying they weren't happy with my tip.......tough.
I recomemmend Trapadviser (who we purchased the trip from) should vet some of the guides.
Mohamed is clearly a rip off con artist.

Lovely day in Alexandria with Hend

We had Hend as our guide and George as our driver. Both were extremely great at what they do. I’m sure most tour guides are knowledgeable in their field but Hend is a true Egyptologist and really knew how to communicate well so we can learn about the history of Alexandria. When the Alexandria library was not on our itinerary and we asked if we can go as it was a very important site to see, Hend and George really went above and beyond to make it happen. In fact, we tried to hire them for another tour (sadly did not work out).

I would schedule a tour with them without hesitation. We had a subpar guide today and that can really make or break your day. Don’t waste your precious time. Just go with Hend!

I booked trip through Trip Advisor,redirected to Viator,purchase 2 tickets all inclusive.
cost $476.00 Au.tour handled by local company Let’s Go Egypt.
While guide was knowledgeable he was unaware it was all inclusive ticket and I paid all entrance fees again and restaurant.I emailed about the situation,I had paid a further $78.00. Viator replied that they couldn’t offer me a refund because the local guide said he had paid.

Fun tour for those on a compressed schedule

This was a great casual day tour of Alexandria from Cairo. We had a brief hiccup ensuring the tour was actually confirmed as we'd booked online without calling or WhatsApp'ing to confirm the tour in the days ahead but after payment. Their professional team was able to work it out and confirm the night before (after hours) and we were quickly in communication with our guide Hajer.

Hajer and our driver Ahmed were both absolutely great. Our pickup was not just on-time but ready slightly early, the vehicle was clean and in good condition, and we had a great time listening to a mix of Arabic hits along the way.

Hajer and Ahmed were happy to provide answers to our (many) questions along the way. We saw each of the sights we'd intended to see during the relatively short duration of the tour. Honestly 12 hours just isn't enough for travel to/from Alexandria AND to really take reflective time at sights, but we also didn't feel rushed like some tours that are "here you are, take a picture, time to go."

Worst tour we did.

The driver was great. He arrived ahead of the scheduled time and was really friendly. Mohamed the tour guide and supposed Egyptologist was about 35 minutes late. As a result, the driver took us for coffee and kept apologising. Mohamed eventually came along and if he's an Egyptologist, I'm an astronaut. The man didn't have a clue and didn't care. We were quite forgiving of all this. My patience began to wear somewhat when we arrived in Alexandria and he insisted we pay entrance fees though I had paid quite a sum of money to get entrance fees and lunch included so all we had to pay were tips.
Mohamed insisted we had not included entry fees though I had a screenshot of the ticket as proof. We had a slight stand off before he agreed to call the tour company. He then reluctantly accepted we had already paid. After that, he clearly didn't want to take us anywhere else as when he pulled up outside the pillar of Pompeii he said "you can see this here. You don't want to go in do you?" He told us nothing about anywhere except that Egyptians invented many things and were very clever. And that there was a mix of Greek, Roman and Egyptian art and architecture. I probably could have been a better tourguide for the day.
Then after the citadel, he suggested we go back to Cairo and have our lunch there. We agreed to that but he took us (without warning) to a perfum shop. I wish he had told us in advance as I am severely allergic to perfume. As I had a reaction in the shop from smelling it all and got a headache and a cough and sore eyes etc, I asked if we could just be dropped back to the hotel.
He insisted on a tip at the end and was really condescending. We got no lunch. He probably would have tried to trick us into paying for that twice over too.

Good tour guide, company asks for more money then agreed.
The guide and chauffeur were good, and tried to accommodate our wishes and questions as best as possible, though the organization itself tried to get more money from us then was agreed upon, by claiming that our hotel was outside their service area.

A great road trip to the sea shore
We really liked our day! They picked us up from our hotel in Gyza and the drive to Alexandria is part of the experience as it is a beautiful farming landscape which was unexpected. It was also the opportunity to see the outback of Cairo - which we found very interesting. The Catacombs, Pillar of Pompei and Citadel of Qaitbey were interesting and the sea face was beautiful. The guide isbgreat and loves sharung his passion for Egyptian history. We got lucky with some sun and had a very nice time walking by the sea. We picked the option with lunch not included as it seemed to be much cheaper on trip advisor without lunch included and we ended in a very nice seafood restaurant and had a great lunch with the guide and the driver. The guide took care of everything, and at the end of the day it costs us an extra 1100EGP ( =33 Euros) for lunch, and the 2 coffees and 2 bottles of water - so 550EGP each. thanks again a great experience

Good drive and guide

The tour to Alexandria was good. Rania, our guide and driver and car were very good.

The drive to Alexandria is part of the experience as it a beautiful farming landscape which was unexpected. The Catacombs, Pillar of Pompei and Citadel of Qaitbey were interesting and the sea face is beautiful. Otherwise, there is not much else to see in Alexandria.
We opted for a packed lunch and were dropped back in the evening at our hotel.

Alexandria tour

Our tour guide Emeel and our driver Abu Mekahe provided us an exceptional day trip to Alexandria. All details were perfect.
Emeel is extremely knowledgeable and clever about Egyptian history and beyond.
He made sure we understood each history along the way on our tour.
Emeel took us to catacombs, Pompey Pillar, and Citadel was beautiful with a great view to the mediterranean sea.
He recommended a great restaurant spot with authentic and delicious food.
He also took us to the Alexandria library which was mind blowing.
