    ottima giornata, nonostante l'acquazzone
    escursione del 08.16 ottima giornata alle isole Withsundays e non solo. Avevamo prenotato il Providence proprio perchè ci piaceva l'idea di usare una barca a vela, per giunta non modernissima. E ne siamo stati molto soddisfatti. Niente a che vedere con i rumorosi e inquinanti motoscafi, anche se il nostro "veliero" ha dovuto navigare anche a motore. L'escursione inizia alle 7.15 dalla Abel Point Marina. L'equipaggio è composto da sole due persone, gentili ed efficienti. Sulla barca spuntini e il pranzo, tutto molto gradevole. Agosto è la fine dell'inverno australiano e la temperatura era gradevole ma non calda (ricordarsi di portare una giacca per il vento). Abbiamo navigato verso le isole Withsundays e siamo saliti a piedi in cima alla collina per vedere Whiteheaven Beach. Nel frattempo i nuvoloni che si erano addensati hanno scaricato un monte di pioggia, che purtroppo ha reso meno eccezionale lo scenario e la passeggiata sulla incredibile spiaggia bianca. Quindi siamo passati alla seconda tappa, mezz'ora di gradevolissimo snorkeling in una zona interessante. Il rientro è stato come previsto verso le 5.30pm. Peccato per il tempo, con il sole sarebbe stata un'esperienza indimenticabile, perchè già così è stata molto bella

    Indimenticabile giornata!
    La giornata è stata molto bella ma devo dire anche molto lunga, 6 ore di navigazione interminabili, 1 ora e 20 min circa a Whitsunday Island (non sufficiente per godersi la bellezza del posto) e 30 minuti di snorkeling. Accoglienza eccellente, il personale di bordo (2 pax) molto gentili, allegri e efficienti. Caffè, tè, pranzo frutta dolci molto buoni e acqua a volontà. Creme solari a bordo per i clienti. L'unico rammarico ho prenotato per una barca a vela ma è stato tutto a motore, non credo sia una zona con sufficiente vento per questo tipo di barche. Hanno alzato le vele per 10 minuti prima di attraccare al porto al nostro rientro. Ovviamente non è colpa loro! Bisognerebbe sapere prima quanto tempo c'è di navigazione e quanto per isola e snorkeling, la nostra agenzia non ci ha avvisato di questo!

The views were amazing, the other passengers were friendly- the crew was great - the only disappointing feature was that there was only one sail up - the others were being repaired- I wanted to experience a sailing trip - I think you should be told this before going.

A beautiful and serene sailing experience with a friendly crew and caring captain on a great looking boat with fantastic view of the sunset over the Airlie Beach hills. Sailing on board the Providence is a treat. Take your date with you. You will not regret it.

Disappointing and less than luxurious
DO NOT BOOK !!

When we got our booking confirmation it said a gourmet nibble platter and glass of champagne was included, it certainly wasn’t champagne and the ‘gourmet’ nibble platter was some bread, dip, crackers and a few bits of fruit, there was only 1 platter for everyone on board to share and they had squeezed so many people on that we could barely all fit we had to all squeeze in next to each other and couldn’t move

We started sailing directly into a massive storm and as the crew didn’t seem concerned we figured it must not have been going to hit us, next minute it was pissing down with rain and we were all trying o cover ourselves with our jackets while the crew stood under the awning in their wet weather gear, we sat out in saturated for quite a while before they bother to take us back in , not to mention this was in complete darkness , the ship doesn’t have lights other than on the side so we were literally sitting in the darkness, wet and cold

When we got off the main guy was like ‘hope you enjoyed your trip , but if rain but a nice sunset’ I’m not sure what sunset you were looking at but the sunset was completely behind the clouds , completely understand you can’t control this but this had to be the most dodgy and worst sunset cruise I have ever been on

Sorry to hear you had such bad weather which makes everything unpleasant and was certainly not our intention. Winter in the Whitsundays is usually dry. If there is rain on the radar we cancel. But sometimes it can be unexpected.

COLD, WET unpleasant experience COME ON TEAM you need to do better.

Being semi local, we were excited to do an activity that we were yet to do in beautiful Airlie Beach. This was a gift to our daughter for her 30th birthday, but sadly it had drizzled rain all day. We were expecting it to be cancelled as per their email when we booked, saying; we don’t like sailing in rainy weather as l’m sure you don’t either. You are correct, I didn't want to sail especially with NOWHERE to take cover except for the toilet. BUT they did not cancel, and we boarded the Providence Sailing boat. Dressed for a night out, hair and makeup, plus suitable jackets but NOT FULL WET WEAR.
So lets do a recap of this "sunset cruise" it sounds amazing doesn't it?
And I'm sure it is, in better conditions.
BUT THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE
All seating was wet, because it had rained on and off during the day, and they had also just returned from snorkeling at Whitehaven. One would think the seating would be swapped prior to boarding. But No if you didn't have a jacket to sit on! You got a wet bottom. Come on Crew, surely, we deserve the basics of dry seating to sit and sip our wine while sailing the Whitsundays at sunset.

Nibbles were placed on a flat surface of the ship, where only those close could access safely and when it started to rain, it became spoilt anyhow. Thinking in this day and age, a small snack box for each paying guest would be more appropriate. I sure as hell didn't eat any of it, with everyone's fingers dipping in it. The crew didn't blink and eye as the rain fell and spoilt the food anyhow.

The rain jackets were sitting in a pile of wet pulp on deck, not that it mattered because they were in such poor condition, with sleeves missing, majority had large tears and holes in them, you needed two to make one. And THEY WERE WET. The crew did not offer any assistance. Just Disgraceful, I'm sure they wouldn't pass any accreditation review. Perhaps if you choose to cruise, when rain is a possibility, you should hand a dry, clean raincoat in good condition to your paying guests as they board.

Thank goodness for a price you could buy drinks on board, the only thing that helped make this experience bearable. I'm sure the majority of guests on board this miserable night would share my views.

Thanks for your feedback and we would be happy to take you out again in better weather if you are local and have that option. We have had two weeks of unpredictable weather. Raincoats are all replaced.

Disappointed
We were disappointed having chosen the Providence sunset sail. On leaving the marina we motored out into the bay. Sails put up then sat bobbing up and down like a cork in water for the next hour waiting for the sun to go down.
Unfortunately very cloudy so no sunset as such which thought we may have sailed the bay and had some commentary on surrounds on the coast line
Enjoyed a complimentary glass bubbles and cheese /dip board.
Not a sailing experience that thought it would be.

The sail was pleasant, but there was minimal interaction between the skipper and tourists. I was surprised that he did not enforce life jackets for young children who were just walking around the yacht with minimal parental supervision. Would find an alternative provider next time.

A Relaxing Pleasant Short Cruise.
Based on the weather forecast we planned which evening to book during our stay and timed it perfectly. We had a lovely sunny evening with a sufficient breeze for sailing on the old 2 masted schooner. It’s a pleasant relaxing way to cruise the bay making for an enjoyable experience. The onboard drinks are a bit pricey though.

A sunset cruise to try and forget. Sunday 23rd April was not a good day weather wise, it was rain and high winds on and off all day long. So we were fully expecting a phone call to say the sunset cruise would be cancelled, bearing in mind that on their email sent to us they said that; we don’t like sailing in rainy weather as l’m sure you don’t either. Which gave us hope that they would cancel…….which of course never happened. So off we trotted to the meeting point to be met by the “skipper” (l forgot his name) who sadly had zero people skills. To cut a long story short, it just got worse from that point on. The boat should never have left the harbour, the only reason why it did was to keep all of our hard earned cash. All of the previous negative reviews sum the experience up perfectly.

Sorry to hear about your experience. April was full of unpredictable weather days and around 98% of the time, we were able to sail as the rain vanished around 4 pm. However, sometimes we get it wrong and that was obviously the case this time. Will pass on your feedback to the skipper.
