Kevin is a great guide. My wife & I have visited Northumberland & Hadrian’s Wall off and on for 20 years, he’s not only the most informed & informative guide but also personable and easy to engage. His knowledge and understanding of British Roman history is deep and nuanced, and he was great at fielding our American questions. I have no reservations recommending him to someone visiting Northumberland for the first time or for the 15th.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day with Kevin - he came across as a genuinely nice guy and his extensive knowledge coupled with his enthusiasm for his craft (alongside the fantastic landscape and environment) made for an absolutely brilliant experience. I would highly recommend this tour - we were so inspired we plan to walk the entire length of Hadrian's Wall next year!!!!!!

This tour was amazing! One of the best if not the best tours I have ever been on. After the 2 hour tour finished, my wife and I were the only ones left and had Kevin as our own private tour guide. He has extensive knowledge of Roman Britain and Hadrian's Wall. Without Kevin we would have missed out on so much. His passion and attention to detail is exceptional. I would 100% recommend this tour.

We very much enjoyed the day visiting Hadrian's Wall, the museum, and Roman excavation sites. Our guide, Kevin, was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining which made for a great day to learn some of Britain's fascinating history and see the beautiful countryside. I very much enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend this tour for well informed and inquisitive travelers.

Due to a group cancellation on the day, I was fortunate to have a solo tour with tour guide, Kevin. His deep knowledge of Roman history in Britain & his passion for Hadrian’s Wall &, in particular, Vindolanda ensured it was a memorable experience. Thoroughly recommended.

I was curious about Hadrian’s Wall, and Kevin gave us the perfect tour to illuminate us. The amazing history came alive with his clear and vivid descriptions and the items of clothing and weapons he shared. Kevin gave excellent answers to every question. Highly recommended.

Without doubt, this is one of the most enjoyable and informative days I've ever spent. Kevin is a talented communicator and historian, and we felt privileged to have been able to have have him with us throughout the day. His knowledge is so extensive that he is quite easily able to take the conversation and information in any direction you wish. This is not a standard tour, but one that is pitched to the interests and knowledge level of his guests. I'm certain that if you were an academic or someone who knew nothing about the Romans or ancient Britain, you'd have an amazing day and feel that you really understood what it was like to live up on the wall 2,000 years ago. Really, don't visit Hadrian's Wall without Kevin - you'll miss so much

Excellent guided tour. Kevin is well informed, enthusiastic and approachable. Plenty of time to ask questions. Weather can be dodgy (cold & wet) in that part of the world so dress appropriately. Then you will enjoy every minute.

Visiting Hadrian’s wall was one of the things on our ‘bucket list’ so we decided to book a tour to fully experience the wall. The day was divided into three sections. Firstly we were entertained by Kevin, dressed in celtic garb giving the story of how and why the Romans were in Northumbria. We then walked a section of the wall experiencing the ruins. Secondly we visited Vindolanda - a live archeological dig site, Roman Fort and museum. Kevin explained well the different aspects of the fort and the highlights of the museum. Aspects were shown that would have been missed if visiting without a guide. Our final visit was to the Homestead Fort, which for me was the highlight. Another large Roman Fort (ruins) attached to Hadrian’s wall to life put it all together. We found the day very informative, packed and for us well worth the cost - particularly as entry to the forts was included. As an added bonus we were able to see the Sycamore Tree (The tree filmed in Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood). A worthwhile and enjoyable day.
