I recently had a group beginner lesson with Charlie and it was so much fun! I was a little apprehensive before going as I had experienced lessons in the past when I was younger, and was never really able to get the swing of it all. All the instructors at Fistral are so friendly, and Charlie was a fantastic teacher! He really boosted my confidence, taught clearly and methodically - I stood up on my first wave! I was in a group of 5-7 and none of us knew each other, but Charlie created a fun relaxed environment and by the end of it we were all chatting. Really fun activity! x

I was able to surf white water waves after taking one of the beginner group surf lessons given by Elise, which was a very welcome surprise as I could not surf at all beforehand.
I hired a beginner surfboard for the rest of the long bank holiday weekend which was reasonably priced. I was able to leave valuables and belongings behind at the school while out on the water which was very useful.
There are changing rooms and showers the use of which are included in the price of a surfing lesson, which means you can do pretty much all you need without leaving the beach.
Would recommend taking a lesson particularly to complete novices like myself, the atmosphere is supportive and the quality of teaching is very high.
Will certainly return for all my surfing needs!

I was in Newquay for a last minute trip and managed to book in for a group beginner surfing lesson a couple of days before the lesson itself. The booking process was really simple and the email confirmation provided plenty of information on what to bring, what to expect etc.
The surf school is based at the beach, there are changing rooms, lockers, showers etc. so you can head down, get ready and get straight into your lesson, without having to trek from further away in a wetsuit and with your surfboard.
I booked in for a morning lesson, and was greeted at the beach by Nik, the instructor for the session. I was extremely fortunate that nobody else had booked in that morning, so I ended up having a 1 to 1 with Nik, meaning I got so much more out of it than I would expect to in a group of up to 6-8.
We walked over to the far end of the beach and spent the first part of the lesson talking through the fundamentals, different parts of the surf board, safety precautions, lifeguard markers on the beach etc. We practiced some of the technique on the beach before getting into the water.
The beach is great for beginners as you can walk out quite far without needing to swim out behind where the waves break. The conditions were perfect and I was able to spend the rest of the lesson working with Nik 1 to 1 to improve different parts of my technique. He was a great instructor, clearly very experienced and enjoys what he does. I'd recommend a lesson with him if you're able to request a specific instructor, although imagine all the instructors are great!

Charlie was a fantastic coach for my 14 year old son. Really patient and supportive throughout the lesson and he was buzzing when he finished and went on to practice for the rest of the week. Superb

We did a 2hr surfing lesson for 11 of us on a stag do. Our lesson had to be rescheduled due to extreme weather but luckily we were able to do it the following day.
They provided us with wetsuits, boots and hoods which helped make it even more enjoyable as the weather was pretty cold and windy. The guys who carried out the session with us were brilliant and we all had an amazing time.
Would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for something to do while in Newquay.

My partner and I had an absolutely fantastic time out surfing with Tom, he was an amazing teacher and had so much enthusiasm, he made the experience really great. Overall a friendly atmosphere and a very fun day. :) All equipment provided, hot showers afterwards, lockers for your things, as close to the beach/ right on the beach as you can be.
