- angela v0 contributiMAZATLAN E DINTORNIla nostra guida/autista Martin ci attendeva all'uscita del porto per il nostro tour privato e ha iniziato subito il city tour facendoci vedere i punti di maggior interesse della città, abbiamo poi potuto vedere i tuffatori e ci siamo poi diretti verso Malpica prima di arrivare in questo piccolo centro ci siamo fermati per osservare una piccola fabbrica di mattoni fatti ancora a mano, le visita è proseguita poi per Concordia piccolo centro molto carino ed è terminata al porto. Eduardo was a phenomenal driver and guide for our resort tour. He was very kind, funny and knowledgeable about the area. We were so grateful to be able to experience such a beautiful resort on the beach. The food was great! The scenery and the tour guide. Thank you for adding to our vacation experience! We appreciate how hard you all work. Definitely recommend!

Where to start ?? This was an absolutely wonderful excursion, from start to finish. We came to Mazatlán on the June 4th sailing of the Carnival Panorama. We decided to book this excursion on our own, instead of paying high prices on the Cruises Ship Website. And was this a fantastic choice.
We we got off the ship, you had to take a tram to get to the Terminal Building. Once there, we checked in at the Mazatlan Van Tours desk. Since it was just my wife, our 4 year old daughter and myself, they assigned us to a private taxi for the day. Our driver was Enrique (aka... Robocop), and he was absolutely AMAZING !! He was very knowledgeable about Mazatlan, and gave us quite the City Tour on the way to the Resort.
Once we got to the Las Flores Beach Resort, Enrique gave us a quick tour of the facilities and let us pick a table with some shade to get started. He got us completely checked in, and brought us our lunch and drink tickets that were included in the package. He told us the day is ours, to relax and enjoy the resort and told us he would be at the resort waiting for us when we were ready to go. Before he left us, he made sure we had towels and everything we needed before going on his way. Such amazing service is very rare in today's business climate.
The pool was incredible, the food options for lunch were very good and the drinks were Heavenly. The resort is right on the beach, with plenty of lounge chairs and shade. This resort is definitely one I would consider staying at, if I return to Mazatlan on a land based visit.
If you make it to Mazatlan, make sure you book this excursion. And definitely ask for Enrique as your guide. He is truly a Customer Service Professional, and his Company should be very proud to have him representing them.

Mazatlán stop on Ruby Princess

Took port provided shuttle for the short ride through the working port to the entrance of the tourist (shopping) building. At the “Mazatlán Van Tours” counter presented our “Resort for a day” voucher and in about 15 minutes were picked up by a mini van driver Carlos Tirado Ochoa.
By the way, this arrangement was made back home by offer from Cruises Only. Total cost was $150 minus $50 incentive for two people. So for $100 we had round trip ride with about 4.5 hrs. stay (could stay longer but it was enough for us) at the resort’s beach with chairs, umbrella and six items food menu and two drinks/ person. Selected Margaritas and Pacifico bears.
It took some efforts to get through the waves near the shore just to get to the ocean in the morning, but ocean waves cooled down later in the day.
The resort called Gaviana. Apparently, they do not sell day visit passes over there, so passes are available through the travel agency reservation back home in the US. I inquired the price of a day stay and was really surprised to find out that a very spacious room will cost me less than $30/night.
Carlos came to pick us up few minutes before the pickup time. He made sure that we will have enough time to use the limited time in the Mazatlán. While we expected just a delivery driver, but instead we were treated to the interesting presentation about the history of the city provided by the very professional and friendly person.
Carlos educated us about the Star of David in all 28 stained-glass windows of the Roman Catholic Church. Apparently, a Jewish family living in Mazatlán in 1856 donated more than 50% of funds needed for the construction.
There are so much more to cover, but need to get some sleep.
Tomorrow will stop at Puerto Vallarta.

We booked this tour through a reputable internet cruise tour company which we have used many times before, for $75 per person. It was my husband’s birthday and the trip promised us a day at a resort in the Golden Zone with transport, sun beds, private beach, lunch (main meal from a great choice advertised) together with two drinks that could be alcoholic or non alcoholic.
The transfer was okay but then everything went down hill. At other Resorts for the day we have been on you are welcomed and told what’s included/ where you can go. Nothing like that just a band put on.
The beach was nice but no beds and managed to get two plastic chairs. However, general public were just walking up and using the shade provided for no charge and someone providing chairs for 150 pesos. So no benefit at all there!
Trying then to get the lunch and drinks promised was just a farce and embarrassing. We asked for two beers and a lemonade and told we only could have two drinks in total and would have to pay for the other. I showed them our email confirmation and what was included but the guy was rude and argumentative. Lucky our driver had stayed so we went to advise him of the problem. All he could say was it was a new hotel they were using and not used to the package. He did though get us the drinks.
Next we went to get food and approached the grill restaurant whose menu looked similar to what had been promised. We were told it was buffet that we could have.
That was just a joke as consisted of silver trays outside and when opened the food could not be identified as well as looking congealed and inedible. It had also been there all day.
Again we approached our driver. After a lot of arguing we got a menu and ordered a tuna salad that was 140 pesos only $7. It arrived and was okay. We left to go back to the beach and we then had a waiter running after us asking if we wanted the check! We pointed him in the direction of our driver.
So for our $75 each trip we got a taxi there and back (no more than $30), a Tuna salad $7, 2 beers and 2 lemonades! Needless to say not value for money.
Recommend you get a taxi to a beach yourself with a lovely lunch out and still have change from $75!

First about the company - Greeted us, told us where we needed to be, etc. The driver was fantastic! Super knowledgeable about the area which made the drive entertaining. And he stayed at the resort the entire time to make sure if we had any questions he was there to help. Second the resort - not the best resort. Although towels were provided if needed, umbrellas had to be rented at a separate price. Tons and tons of vendors on the beach walking up to you every two seconds. Although I obviously understand tourism is a source of income it was very overwhelming and basically only way to relax was to go in the ocean. We chose not to get the lunch, and ordered from the resort on our own. There were 6 of us total and only one person said the food was good. I personally ordered guacamole and chips which I was very excited about, but it didn't even have the color of fresh avocado. I don't know what was mixed in it, but It just wasn't good. Two others had ceviche and they said it was mostly tomatoes and onions and only a piece or two of fish. Unseasoned. So that was a bummer. Not sure if the included lunch would have been better, but thinking if same chef it's unlikely. Overall not sure I'd do this excursion again, but the Tripadvisor service was fantastic.

This was our least favorite out of the 3 excursions we booked in Mexico. It is very disorganized and not “All inclusive”. They give you a limited lunch menu and miniature size drinks(only give you a choice of beer or margarita) that are not worth the money. Lounge chairs and umbrellas cost extra. It also seemed that any locals could just walk in and use the amenities making it very crowded.
