The operator Jeremy made it clear Iin his email and texts that he did not want to pick us up at our hotel in yokohama. He did not text to give us any inclination that he would be arriving. I received a phone call the day of the tour saying he was there to pick us up. I was unable to cancel at this point. I would recommend another a tour operator that has better communication skills.

Thank you Margaret for booking my tour. My tour says that I cannot pickup from Yokohama. It is a very long way from Yokohama to the countryside. Please expect a three hour drive to the countryside and a three hour drive back. I will still do the tour but accessibility will be limited. I am sorry.
That was my response. It is 104 km to Yokohama. I did the journey. I arrived at her hotel and she said she was ill and couldn’t do the tour. She didn’t cancel the tour but wants a refund.. Told her that it be a long. I did not refuse her tour. I drove 104 km to Yokohama and she refused to join my tour.
She is just trying to get a refund.
I did tell that I would pick you up. I drove to Yokohama to pick up with trainee guide.
Messaged this to you three days before the tour.
I arrived at your hotel and was told by the client that she was sick and couldn’t join the tour,

Fabulous tour with Jeremy and Julian. We went to some beautiful countryside spots where there were no other tourists and it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Jeremy’s knowledge of this part of the world is extensive and interesting. He taught us a lot of Japanese history and culture in a manner that was easy to understand. Julian is a good driver and a very pleasant young man.
We would highly recommend this tour.

A perfect day started in our hotel, leading us into the mountains. We were impressed by the temples and shrines, the scenery, lakes, flowers and the beautiful surroundings. Jeremy told us about ancient times, gods and spirits, religion, history and legends. Such a wonderous day. Lunch was very appreciated at a family-run restaurant, we saw the shrines of the Korean princes, climbed many stairs and enjoyed every minute of this day. A highlight in our Japanese journey.

Really enjoyed this fascinating tour with Jeremy (especially the lunch of cheese pizzas with honey drizzled on it - yummy!). We had been to Tokyo before so wanted to venture out into the surrounding countryside and we were glad we did it! Jeremy is a wealth of information about the Japanese culture and history. Highly recommend this tour.

I cannot say enough good things about this tour and Jeremy the tour operator.
Pick-up at our hotel in Akasaka on time with good communication prior to pickup.
Jeremey kept us engaged sharing his extensive knowledge and history of the area and much about his life during the ride out and back to Tokyo. Upon reaching the countryside we had a casual drive through Jeremy's town, then around the mountain roads to visit two beautiful temples 1300+ years old and a huge statue / shrine display. Unlike Kyoto with its throngs of people earlier this week on our trip, each huge, well kept, beautiful temple and the shrine had fewer than a dozen people!
We had much back and forth conversations in English (he also speaks excellent Japanese) and Jeremey is very open to questions about anything on the tour, sites we visited etc... and quite willing to say I don't know about that; instead of making something up which I really value in a tour operator. I also know he will be researching information on some of our questions just to make himself a better-informed tour guide. He is always looking to improve his craft!
Just stunning scenic views as you are driven up mountain roads to each location. Don’t fret about the driving as Jeremy is a pro and we felt safe the entire tour.
Lunch was a really unique and cool experience of juxtapositioned cultures where we ate fantastic brick oven pizza (4 cheese with special local honey) in a very traditional Japanese setting (low tables and tono mats) with a beautiful little Japanese garden. The restaurant also had great coffee and melon spritzer drink ending with cherry blossom infused cheesecake! Let Jeremy know if you want traditional Japanese food (EDO) or have any dietary requests as he can adapt to meet your needs.
We hit the jackpot with this tour with the best tour guide we ever had! Added bonus as the Sakura were all blooming!

Our last day in Japan was special touring the countryside with Jeremy, the human encyclopaedia. So very interesting, and passionate about what he does. And so very considerate, effortlessly adapting the route as we went along when he could see my husband was having major issues with mobility.
Mountain scenery, a beautiful lake, temples, shrines, statues, lots of stories and a delightful lunch - all without seeing another tourist, no traffic (once out of Tokyo) and NO QUEUES!!
Finally saw cherry blossoms. Autumn would be stunning.
Highly recommend this experience.

It was a 5 star tour one of the best tours we did on our 6 week trip. Jeremy was prompt knowledgeable and extremely personable. At the end of the tour we felt like family. Tour delivered above what was expected Don’t hesitate to book a tour with Jeremy

My tour was on 01/31/24 with Jeremy as my guide. It was such a wonderful tour and I learnt a lot about the temples we went to, random facts about the surrounding areas, and things about Japan in general. It's so helpful having a tour guide who is fluent in both english and Japanese as he can easily translate. I definitely will book again if I go to Japan again because he has different places to go if you've been to certain temples already.

Great tour and agent. Agent was very knowledgeable and cared about what we thought about sites. Agent arranged a traditional Japanese lunch at a true cultural restaurant. Excellent food and service.

This was simply the best. I came to Japan to see autumn colour and I was running out of time and the colour was running late.
Up popped this tour on Viator and it was exactly what I was looking for. A trip into the mountains away from crowds of tourists and promised colour, unforgettable scenery and insider knowledge from an English speaking guide ( Jeremy is English) who has lived in Japan for 30 years.
Brilliant didn’t even begin to describe the day. I experienced life in the country off the beaten track and I saw wonderful temples and shrines that I would never have found myself or could be offered by any other tour.
We had a wonderful traditional Japanese lunch at the Turnip Cafe.
I came away with renewed enthusiasm for the country and its culture thanks to Jeremy’s prolific knowledge and ability to share it with humour and an understanding of my needs.
If you only have limited time then choose this above all others. You will not be disappointed.
