LOCATION: Location of the hotel is on the top of a hill, in a very panoramic position (great view and sunsets from the room window!). By the contrary, it is not suitable for people who do not have a private car, because it is distant from the beach and from the village of Cefalù, and hotel buses , during high season, were always very crowded of people.
FOOD: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are buffet meals, there is a great choice and variety of food, very well cooked (my husband and me are from Italy and we are quite pretencious with food); the weekly sicilian dinner is superb, plenty of delicious typical food from Sicily. By the contrary, during high season the buffet is like an assault to the tables with food, with children running everywhere and playing with food, and adults which seem they are not eating from years. This is the downside of a big hotel with 380 rooms. I think that common rooms (especially pool and restaurant) were not sufficient for all that people. Ask for a table overviewing the sunset, even if is not easy to obtain.
POOL: The pool is nice itself, quite big and with a whirlpool corner, but, as I said before, is not big enough for all the guests of the hotel. If you do not get up early in the morning, you will not find a sunbed till lunch time. And sunbeds are impossible to find also if you decide to go to the pool in the afternoon. Moreover, some polite people "occupy" the sunbeds with beach towels all day long, using the pool only for 1-2 hours, so it is more and more difficult to find place around the pool, also considering that the space around the pool is very tight.
On the other side of the road there is also an acquatic pool (you have to pay a small ticket), ideal for children.
SEASIDE: You can reach the beach only by car or using the hotel shuttle. It is equipped with complimentary umbrellas and sunbeds and you will easily always find place. The sand near the sea is not really sand, it is made by stones so it is not suitable for children. The sea is very clear and colourful. There is an hotel restaurant on the beach, it is an open air structure, the food is not so various as in the main restaurant but it is very good as well and not so crowded of people, I suggest to eat here while you are at the seaside. You have to book it at the reception in the morning before 10 a.m.
ROOMS: We were 3 people and a child, I think they accomodated us in a double room. For two people it was big and confortable, with a balcony (view on the coast with stunning sunsets) and a large bathroom with tub; for 4 people was sufficient.
RECEPTION: Unfortunately, the women at the reception did not represent the typical sicilian welcoming.
BAR: the bar is well furnished and you can have an aperitive in an open air space just outside.
SERVICES: wi-fi connection is free in the hall area, even if slow. The sports staff organized lots of activities, such as acqua-gym, dance, bow. There is also a miniclub for small children.
After dinner there is the baby dance and several shows in the arena.
VALUE FOR PRICE: in the average (we had a discount rate that was very convenient, the official rate was about 100 euros a day full board during high season).
OVERALL CONCLUSIONS: the first impression I had it's been of confusion and mess, because of too many people all around. But after a week of very good food, clear sea and nice places (don't miss a visit to the village of Cefalù), I would have been there another week.
