I found Skiway to be perfect. I went there for 3 nights to do some skiing prior to a business meeting starting in Denver in Jan 2009. The Lodge was a tremendous value at $110/night. Tom the owner was definitely much more around that the other posts seemed to indicate. The Hunt Placer is a beautiful inn, & we relied on Trip Advisor prior ratings when selecting this B&B. However, between the time we booked and the time of the trip, there was a change in ownership. We stayed at the Hunt Placer Inn for a weekend ski getaway and it was fabulous! The on-site manager is very helpful, the room was comfortable and cosy, and the homemade breakfasts each morning were delicious. After staying for one night and talking to my wonderful host, I'll be back whenever I take a few days off to soak up some mountain atmosphere. I've stayed at Hunt Placer twice and been very pleased with the accomodations and service. Both stays were in conjunction with summer travel. I look forward to a winter visit. (During my last stay, there was a bit of truck traffic on the road, perhaps due to construction in the area, so there was a bit more noise than I would prefer. On a recent driving tour from Denver to LA we heard that Breckenridge was worth a visit. Accommodation there seemed to be a bit of a secret, not the usual succession of strident motels and "resorts".
