This was a short hike in a mainly shaded area. Very pretty! There was a picnic table at the entrance where one can sit down and eat. The walk was along side the water and looped around. It was probably a ten to fifteen minute walk round trip.

This is an 8 acre preserve that provides canoe/kayak access to the Ten Mile Creek which is a tributary of the north fork of the St. Lucie River. Waterways like the one found in this preserve were very important for the Native People who used to live in the area. This area was believed to have been inhabited by Santa Luce Indians from 3,000 to 750 BC. Ceramics and stone tools were found during an archaeological dig at stonewater attenuation facility just south of the preserve. Four sites with artifacts 2,000 to 4,000 years old were discovered.

A short looping trail takes you along the river and under hickory, oak, and sabal palm trees. Plants along the trail include false indigo, marlberry, resurrection fern, wax myrtle, and wild coffee. The path is not paved and goes up and down steep terrain so the moderate level trail is not for everyone. Along the way you might see alligators, black vultures, turkey vultures, herons, egrets and ibis.

This preserve is popular with bird watchers and people who fish. If you just want to take in the peaceful view of the water there are picnic tables and benches.

Restoration efforts are underway to restore the creek and waterways of St. Lucie River to their natural state. The stonewater attenuation facility was built to allow for greater stormwater retention. The natural oxbows which are the curving channels of the river are being reconnected which improves the water filtration which causes less pollutants to flow downstream. Along the water the land is being restored to how it was in the past. The health of the St. Lucie River and the land around it directly impacts the health of the Atlantic Ocean.

I joined a group of 9 for a hike to see the local fungus and lycanthropy. The trail is actually a loop with a narrow path. It rolls through the wooded areas and swampy areas. You will see different types of trees and plants. Make sure you bring bug spray, cause when the temperature rose the bugs come out. The trail can be rough in places with roots and wash out areas.

We do a 5-10 mile paddle board/pedal boat trip here 4 times a week. We rescue Manatees, Dolphins, Gators, Turtles and other creatures and they may ALL be seen in the waterways of our local preserve and lagoon. Please go slow through our waterways as they are packed with slow moving Manatees. Respect them and in turn, you will be rewarded with an experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

This is a nice little park by the spillway with access for canoes. A trail winds through the trees along the bank. Nice canoe trip. Could not go terribly far as the water lilies had it chocked. Nice afternoon paddle though.

very pretty and senic. Pets are allowed, the trail is pretty and just down the road it dead ends to more hiking trails. There is a disc trail? Sort of like golf. Beautiful and scenic with a pretty lake and public bathrooms.

We went to Ten Mile Creek Preserve on Valentine's Day thinking that it would be deserted. We were wrong! It was quite busy. Some people were just hanging out, others were getting their kayaks out. A nice park with picnic tables. Odd that there were not any bathrooms. There were not any snakes, nor mosquitoes. The kayaking was beautiful! We did see one alligator on the bank down by the power lines and later on a small alligator was in the water in front of us. He went under water when we approached him.
It is a nice place to kayak. The flora looked a little different from other rivers in Florida that we have gone kayaking on. It had more deciduous trees mixed in with the palms and ferns. We didn't do any hiking, so I can't comment on that. Overall, a great little park, but could be improved with a bathroom.

Nice short nature walk. No bathroom facilities, but you can walk through it in under 30 minutes. Very peaceful, and the available brochure is a must have to explain some of the characteristics seen on the walk.
