Cittadina molto carina, casette tutte il legno nelle viuzze ciottolate, deliziose, tutto molto romantico, pulitissima cittadina.

Incantevole borgo di case bianche in legno, giardini e fiori curatissimi.

Hi
We are travelling to Jørpeland via stavanger as 2 families with 4 small children, 2(5) & 2(1). Can you recommend some nice child friendly places for lunch that are reasonably priced please

You need a local to answer. In my brief time there, I noticed a 711 (or equivalent) near the waterfront that had delicious looking breads and sandwiches. You could buy and take to nearby lake for picnic

We have a wheelchair, how far is old Stavanger from the cruise ship dock please and would you say the roads are very steep?

Hi our ship docked alongside the old stavanger area so not very far. The paths are hilly with steps at the end so you will need to turn back & retrace your path I think. Not a problem because there is plenty to see. The paths are cobbled but with patience I think it will be doable especially once you are up the initial slope because it then levels out significantly. Enjoy your trip

Hello, my wife and I are visiting Norway next week and I planned to take some of Old Stavanger in. I want to make sure I am heading to the right places, so can someone please let me know where I should be heading - some road names or points of interest that will point me in the right dirction?
Many thanks,
Matt

Hallo Matt. Stavanger Old Town is in the middle of Stavanger itself. It is easily visible because it is perched on a hilltop looking over the harbour.
If you get lost, ask anyone. It will not be more than a 7 minute walk or so from wherever you are. Best wishes. Paul

We are cruising to the fjords, Stravanger is the 1st port of call, can anyone tell me what the weather is like early July? I've checked the weather forecasts and it just shows clouds and rain!!!!!
I was hoping for some sunshine and to use the pools on the ship and possible sunbath, is this hoping for too much ?
I will pack a rainproof coat with a hood, any help much appreciated
Thanks

Hi, it was raining here in Stavanger in the last 3 days and it was 10 Celcius degrees yesterday. So this is not really a "pool and sunbath" destination. But don't give up your plans so soon! The weather is changing extremely fast here, because of the constant wind. So it could happen that you leave when rainy and a few hours later it's sunny. Unfortunately, the contrary could happen too so always be prepared for bad weather If we get 2 or 3 sunny days in a row, that's great and the temperature can reach 20-24 degrees. You easily can get sunburnt because of the angle of sunlight and the reflective surface of the sea, even though it's not that hot.
So my bits of advice are
- check the weather forecast on the day before you leave, check it every day because it's turning fast
- bring your bathing suit, I'm sure you can use the pools on the ship
- use sunscreen always! Even if it seems not sunny, even if it feels cold.
- bring one more sweater. Seriously. You could never know when the wind starts to blow, or clouds cover the sun and you will need it.
- enjoy yourself! This is the most beautiful country I've ever seen.
I hope you're having a great time!

Is there any way to visit any part of Old Stavanger without walking? How far is it from where the cruise ship passengers arrive? I would love to see that area and, perhaps, have lunch there. Is there any possibility of arranging this without walking? We cannot walk distances and cobblestones are difficult.

It is so small it is not far to walk and it is only a few meters from the harbour. Worth checking google maps to see for yourself.

Hi! How was your weather in May and how long do you need to walk around the town?
jafischer
Mayen, Germania633 contributi
The weather in May differs, I experienced sunshine more often but as well rainy, windy days.
To explore the nice points in the city I'd propse 2 - 3 hours the least for you having to walk all around the harbour and on the hilltops. Old Stavanger is a 30-45 minutes stroll. If you're visiting some of hte exciting museums youļl spent more than a day.
Just start and enjoy.
